LA MESA (CNS) - The La Mesa Police Department will resume parking regulation enforcement citywide starting the second week of November, officials announced Wednesday.La Mesa suspended the issuing of parking tickets on March 17 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.Starting Monday, Nov. 9, La Mesa police will issue written citations for vehicles parked in violation of posted street sweeping routes, metered parking restrictions, curb time limits, commercial zones and 72-hour parking limits.The city of San Diego temporarily suspended parking enforcement on March 16, limiting enforcement to holiday or Sunday regulations only. San Diego resumed parking regulation enforcement citywide on Oct. 15. 709

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A young girl born without an arm now has a prosthetic one after teachers at Sunshine Elementary in Lehigh Acres made an arm just for her.It's a dream come true for student Dulce Jaimes.  "I didn't know what was happening until Mr. Demeri showed up," Dulce said. The third grader was born without half an arm, but recently received a prosthetic one after her teacher decided to use a 3-D printer to make one. "She was perfect before the arm," teacher Rachel Canino said.  "Now that she has the arm, she's a celebrity."A celebrity who's an extra helping hand for her family.  "I can help my mom out with my brother," Dulce said. "When I get two yogurts because they're small, I let the other one carry it and I hold the other one." Eric Demeri, who made Dulce's arm, started the 3-D printing lab back in the fall. He said originally the lab was for printing things like pencil holders. But after getting word of Dulce's situation he was up for the challenge of something bigger.Demeri said he had never printed something that took more than six hours. But Dulce's arm took nearly 40 hours, with some failed attempts. Eventually, he got it right.  "When I actually got it to work and I had my daughter testing it out, I'm like, ‘This is going to be, this is going to be pretty big for Dulce,’" he said.Now she's lifting water bottles, pencils and pretty much anything she can get her hands on.She said she was thankful."It was really nice of you," she said.  "I was excited, and thank you Mr. Demeri."   1638

(KGTV) - Famed stage and screen actor John Leguizamo returns to the La Jolla Playhouse, this time behind the scenes as the co-writer and creative mind behind the new show, "Kiss My Aztec."This is Leguizamo's third show at the LJP. His previous two, "Latin History for Morons" and "Ghetto Klown" both went on to Broadway.But those were one-man shows; "Kiss My Aztec" is a full-size musical production."San Diego's always been great for me," Leguizamo told 10News while promoting the show. "It's a really well-trained theater audience that knows how to watch a work in progress.""Kiss My Aztec" tells the story of a group of Aztec rebels as they fight against Spanish colonization in the 16th century. It's a pretty heavy subject that deals with the loss of their culture, but Leguizamo shows it as a musical comedy and a love story."I felt like the Aztec conquest was ripe with musicality," he said."We're investigating Latin identity," said director Tony Taccone. "We are kind of in the past, but we're speaking directly to the audience right now.""People need to laugh right now," Taccone added. "They need to celebrate who they are and the culture and what they can do, not what they can't do."The show did an extended run at the Berkeley Rep Theater before coming to San Diego. LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Former Vice President Joe Biden visited San Diego Friday night to discuss cancer research at the Salk Institute. Biden is pushing for national efforts to improve prevention and treatment of the disease. His son, beau died from brain cancer in 2015. RELATED: Meghan McCain and Joe Biden share emotional moment on 'The View' The Salk Institute is also launching its own initiative to study cancer. One of their goals is to eradicate childhood illnesses and premature birth for the March of Dimes. Join 10News this weekend and next weekend as we March for Babies. The North County March for Babies takes place Sunday, April 22 at Mance Buchanon park in Oceanside. LAS VEGAS — Neighbors living in a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood were shocked to a see a home in their area vandalized with swastikas.Morley Fulgencio said he noticed the swastikas all over his garage, his driveway and the steps leading up to his front door when he was taking his daughter to school Thursday morning."I was flabbergasted," Fulgencio said.After a short drive around the neighborhood, Fulgencio realized that only his house was the one vandalized. He said he has no idea why his home was singled out.Fulgencio said he hopes this was just a prank. Neighbors rallied together to show support, knocking on his door to help. Neighbor Brian Judd even arranged for crews to clean up the vandalism for free. Fulgencio says he's been overwhelmed by the support, and that it shows the idea of Vegas Strong. "It shows whatever hatred is out there, it's outweighed by human kindness," Fulgencio said. No one has been arrested, and the incident remains under investigation according to police.  1062
