LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - The New Year arrived in one La Mesa home with a bang, followed by glass shattering. Jacob wasn't home on New Year's Eve. Neither were his three renters when something came tearing through his home off La Mesa Blvd."My heart is pounding right now even thinking about it," said Jacob.A 9mm bullet pierced the screen and a double-glass sliding patio door in the back of the house, before flying past the living room and into a kitchen cabinet. A neighbor says she heard 12 gunshots just past midnight.Jacob says if he hadn't been out that night, he would have been sitting in the living room watching television - and right in the line of fire."Looking at the angle of the bullet, probably would have been right at my head. I'm speechless. I would have been dead," said Jacob.It's a chilling thought to go with his feelings of frustration. A 9mm bullet can travel upwards of a mile and a half. LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) – An investigation was launched after at least one bullet struck a car traveling on state Route 94 in the Lemon Grove area.The California Highway Patrol said the incident was reported at around 3:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of SR-94, near College Avenue.According to CHP officials, the 63-year-old driver of a Cadillac CTS said he noticed a black or dark-colored sedan driving behind him for several miles prior to the gunfire.The Cadillac’s driver said the vehicle pulled up to his side and then shots were fired, shattering the driver’s side rear window.The vehicle continued on eastbound SR-94 as the Cadillac pulled over. ABC 10News learned the driver called 911 after the bullet came through the rear driver side window and lodged in the passenger side pillar.The driver was not injured.CHP shut down the right two lanes of the SR-94 from Lemon Grove to Federal Blvd for a few hours as part of their investigation. 956

They were pulling an inflatable behind with the adults. As they come down on speed, the bow of the boat kind of slows and dips, and the child fell overboard,” Sgt. The large tree-trimming truck crashed into the side of the San Diego Taiwanese Presbyterian Church Wednesday. According to a witness, the crew in charge of the truck was working on the 4400 block of Harbison Avenue around 1:30 p.m. when the vehicle began rolling down a hill. Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the crash, though the church says several children and volunteers were close by at the time, calling it a miracle that no one was hit. "We all watched helplessly as there was nothing we could do," Rob Engquist, a witness, said. "Turns out they had gone out to reposition it, moved their wheel chalk out of the way, don't know if the parking break was set or what happened, but the truck was going down the road on its own."A witness also told 10News that the truck was originally headed for a home next to the church but hit a curb and careened toward the church instead. 1260
