Walt Disney World has announced that the 2020 'Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party' at Magic Kingdom is canceled amid coronavirus concerns.Poor Jack Skellington, but at least there's Christmas, right? Well, maybe.Looking even further ahead, Disney said they are monitoring conditions for 'Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party' and the 'EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays,' including the Candlelight Procession. A decision on those events will be made later.Disney hopes to open the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom parks on July 11, followed by Hollywood Studios and Epcot on July 15, but with new safety guidelines and limited crowds.The theme park will require employees and guests to wear masks and get temperature checks at park entrances.In order to keep capacity down, guests will need to make a reservation for park entry in advance. WASHINGTON — An Associated Press investigation has identified at least six sexual misconduct allegations involving senior FBI officials over the past five years, including two new claims brought this week by women who say they were sexually assaulted by ranking agents.The AP found several of the accused FBI officials were quietly transferred or retired, keeping their full pensions even when probes substantiated the sexual misconduct claims.Beyond that, federal law enforcement officials are afforded anonymity even after the disciplinary process runs its course, allowing them to land on their feet in the private sector or even remain in law enforcement.According to the AP's report, one FBI assistant director retired after he was accused of groping a female subordinate in a stairwell. Another official was found to have credibly harrassed eight employees, and another agent retired after he was accused of blackmailing an employee into sexual encounters."They're sweeping it under the rug," said a former FBI analyst who alleges in a new federal lawsuit that a supervisory special agent licked her face and groped her at a colleague's farewell party in 2017. "As the premier law enforcement organization that the FBI holds itself out to be, it's very disheartening when they allow people they know are criminals to retire and pursue careers in law enforcement-related fields.""They need a #MeToo moment," said Rep. Jackie Speier, D-California. "It's repugnant, and it underscores the fact that the FBI and many of our institutions are still good ol’-boy networks. (CNS) - A verdict has been reached in the trial of a woman and her gun instructor who are accused of carrying out a plan to kill the woman's estranged husband.A jury has found Diana Lovejoy, 44, guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder. Welcon McDavid Jr. was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, but the reading of the verdict had to be postponed because Lovejoy passed out. Lovejoy and McDavid Jr. were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder in the Sept. 1, 2016, attack on 45-year-old Greg Mulvihill, who was wounded in the 11 p.m. shooting in Carlsbad.Police allege Lovejoy and McDavid planned the crime and that the latter - - who worked at a gun range where Lovejoy was taking marksmanship lessons -- called the victim, arranged to meet him in the alley and opened fire on him with a rifle while hiding in a patch of bushes.Court records indicated Lovejoy and Mulvihill were in the midst of a contentious divorce, and that she had obtained a restraining order against him on accusations of emotional and sexual abuse.Mulvihill took the stand during the trial and described the moments leading up to him being shot, saying he didn't realize he'd been shot right away and, at first, he thought he felt something in his back even though he could see the shooter in front of him.Mulvihill testified about a bitter custody battle with his estranged wife.Mulvihill said he went up a remote trail in Carlsbad out of desperation, fearing Lovejoy would reopen their custody battle. He took a friend, a flashlight and a small aluminum baseball bat, but he thought he was picking up documents from a private investigator.Instead, as he approached the spot off Rancho Santa Fe Road and Avenida Soledad, he shined his flashlight around and spotted someone dressed in camouflage pointing a long gun right at him.Before he knew what was happening, Mulvihill said he was hit once in the side, the bullet exiting out his back. McDavid faces 50 years to life behind bars, and Lovejoy could be sentenced to 25 years to life.After court, the jury foreperson, Erin Reed,  told reporters the defense version of the shooting "seemed too far-fetched." 2224

VISTA (CNS) - A man who detained two juveniles and took their skateboards in Vista while posing as a sheriff's deputy pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of felony false imprisonment and in a separate case admitted calling in a false report of a bomb threat.Abraham Joseph Nava, 24, will receive credit for jail time served and be placed on three years probation when he is formally sentenced Aug. 27.Nava was arrested June 14, days after the sheriff's department was contacted about a suspect claiming to be an undercover deputy and launched an investigation.During interviews with several employees from businesses in the Main Street area of Vista, investigators learned that the suspect had passed out fake business cards and was interacting with juveniles, said sheriff's Sgt. Jason Scroggins.Investigators also learned that two juveniles were detained by the suspect and had their skateboards taken, he said.After identifying Nava as the suspect, investigators got a warrant to search his home and discovered several pieces of San Diego County Sheriff's Department-specific uniform items, including badges, Scroggins said.A box of fraudulent sheriff's department business cards were also found, according to the sergeant.
