SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- With the help of witnesses, a driver was arrested late Wednesday night after police said he crashed into several parked cars before taking a U-turn and crashing head-on into another vehicle.According to San Diego police, the incident began at around 11 p.m. on University Avenue in North Park.Cell phone video captured by a witness shows the driver hitting parked cars before trying to leave the scene. He then ends up on the wrong side of the street, where he then crashes into another car, the video shows.The man gets out of the car and tries to run away, but witnesses detained him until police arrived.The driver was taken to a hospital and is suspected of driving under the influence.A woman in the car hit head-on was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries. 798

Crews say now it's much safer.The unique aircraft transforms from a helicopter to a plane mid-flight. The trouble, four crashes killed 30 people during training missions from 1991-2000."Most every system on that aircraft has a triple redundant system, so that if there is a failure the other two systems pick up the slack," Corporal Tyler Gartin said. "The Osprey was able to land in places that other aircraft were not able to, and carry out a much higher payload than any other helicopter possibly could have. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- U.S Customs and Border Protection apprehended two suspects wanted in connection to both an attempted homicide and a homicide Wednesday afternoon. According to CBP, the incident began Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry after a 35-year-old U.S. citizen entered the crossing with two other U.S. citizen passengers, a 37-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. The vehicle was escorted to a secure location for processing after officers were alerted that one of the travelers was wanted. After investigating the situation, officers learned that the driver, Monica Cecilia Jimenez was wanted for attempted murder and Omar Alapizco was wanted for homicide by the Oceanside Police Department for the same crime. U.S. Marshals and the Oceanside Police Department responded and took custody of both Jimenez and Alapizco. 861

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two people spotted by police smashing a window at a Pacific Beach Wendy’s restaurant were arrested after leading officers on a chase.The incident unfolded at around 1:15 a.m. at the fast food restaurant on 1621 Grand Ave., according to San Diego police.Officers were in the area when they saw two people smash a window at the eatery. When police tried to make contact with them, they got into a pickup truck and drove away.The truck reached speeds of up to 100 MPH as it led police on a pursuit towards Interstate 8.Police’s ABLE helicopter helped ground units track the truck into the Midway District, and as the vehicle tried to make a left turn on Rosecrans Street, it crashed into the center divider.The truck then entered a nearby strip mall and came to a stop. The two occupants got out, but officers arrived and took them into custody.Police are trying to determine if the window smash was part of a burglary attempt or an act of vandalism. 975
