ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - A car burglary led to more heartbreak for a grieving widow in Escondido after she discovered a priceless item missing. Peter and Brunie LaBozzetta were high school sweethearts and soulmates. They were married for 37 years before Peter passed away from kidney issues and a chronic heart condition in February."It was very, very hard. He was my everything," said LaBozzetta. In the depths of her grief, her future daughter-in-law gave her a gift, a silver pendant LaBozzetta filled with her husband's ashes. She hung it in her car. Peter was usually the navigator during a lifetime of drives together. "He was my co-pilot, and I wanted that to continue,' said LaBozzetta.Instead, the ride came to a halt Saturday afternoon in an apartment carport off Borden Road. She got in her car and immediately noticed the pendant was gone."Panic, scared, anger," said LaBozzetta. The flurry of emotions was sparked by a car break-in. LaBozzetta believes she locked the car, but isn't sure. Also stolen was her husband's disabled parking placard, which she was about to return to the state DMV. But it's the theft of that something priceless that's left her reeling. "I feet empty, like he should be here keeping me company," said LaBozzetta. The bottom of the pendant contains a green peridot gem. If you have any information on the case, you're urged to call Escondido Police at 760-839-4722. 1412

ESCONDIDO (KGTV)- San Diego Zoo's Safari Park opened their Walkabout Australia habitat Friday to visitors, giving them a unique up close experience. One of the four areas, called the Grasslands, contains Kangaroos and Wallabies that roam freely alongside visitors. There's a path, but no fences or plexiglass keeping you separated from the animals."We have someone upfront to go down the rules of how to act and behave among the animals, and those rules transcend how to act and behave around wildlife whether you're out camping hiking or traveling around anywhere else," Rick Schwartz, San Diego Zoo Global Ambassador said. Many parents pointed out the marsupials to their children, using this as a learning opportunity,  "it couldn't get any better, this is the best way to read books and come and see animals in person," Victoria Calisch said. Her three-year-old son Luke said he thought the kangaroos were cool, "I saw a kangaroo but they were not running they were bouncing."The rules in the habitat: stay on the trail, don't sit down on the path and don't have open food or drink containers. If an animal comes up to you, you can interact with him or her."This exhibit space is so huge and it's on a slope so there are plenty of areas for the animals, if they're done being around people you won't even see them," Schwartz said. This is just one of four new habitats in the Walkabout Australia exhibit. Other animals include the tree kangaroo and sugar gliders. The zoo is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Memorial Day.Tickets are for anyone 12 years or older and for kids ages 3-11. 1646

ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) — A verbal confrontation between a North County father and son turned violent after a knife was involved, leading to a stabbing.A man and his son living in the 1100 block of Saxony Rd. got into an argument at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, the San Diego Sheriff's Department said. The argument soon turned into a violent confrontation though, when one of the son reportedly stabbed his father, according to City News Service. The father was taken to a nearby hospital with a single, non-life threatening stab wound.Deputies were unable to find the man's son though, after searching the nearby area using K-9 officers and a SDSO helicopter.SDSO was still trying to locate the suspect Saturday. His name and age were not released. 753

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — The sign out front Andre Villa's Escondido home says "heartbreak," though a visit brings anything but.The location of family gatherings and holidays is highlighted by one very obvious attraction: "The Heartbreak Hotel."Villa's yard and home are adorned with thousands of pieces of memorabilia spanning the 1950s. Everything from Big Boy, to Coca-Cola signs, a gumball machine, and much more. It's a beacon at 622 Utah Street that can’t be missed and is always seeing an addition.Even unwelcome ones.RELATED: Carlsbad Flower Fields explode with color in spring opening"The sign says 'The Heartbreak Hotel,'" Villa started. "I've had people looking for rooms in the middle of the night, knocking on the door."Villa recalled one couple who "walked right in" while they were watching television. But there are only three icons worthy of taking up so much space at Villa’s home: James Dean, Elvis, and Marilyn Monroe.Villa’s habit for collecting began as a child with James Dean magazines and growing to movie posters, but his love of cinema really catapulted his penchant for the icons.RELATED: Convoy Street rooster mural highlights efforts for future neighborhood archway"The love for movies grew more and more, and it just kind of helped out to put everything together as 'The Heartbreak Hotel' from the love of movies as kid," Villa said. "It's still out of control and I'm still having a great time."As years have gone by, he's continue to find things at retail and antique stores, even getting calls from sellers from time to time about a new item perfect for the home. And despite facing the obvious challenge of where to put everything, Villa’s habit doesn’t appear close to slowing — though, not for lack of trying. He's currently looking at making an inventory of everything he has and downsizing, just not all at once."I would hate to part with any of it right now, but I think it's time. But I'm not talking about tomorrow, and hopefully not for another five to 10 years, depending on what I got left in me here," Villa said. "I'd really hate to part with a lot of it ... I'd rather part with a little bit now, than to depart and have everyone scramble around figuring out what they're going to do with it."RELATED: Break from town: Where to take a day trip from San DiegoBut for family and friends who have lived with the vibrant showcase of decades past, the home will always be more than a pop culture time capsule. Behind the glitz and glam of statues portraying The Duke and The King, it's where his home has become a neighborhood icon.Villa invites people to take photos in front of his home, but asks that people let him know ahead of time if they plan to stop by or would like a look around. And he's more than happy with his home's continued popularity."I'm tickled to death with it right now," Villa said. 2856

FBI agents have been questioning Missouri lawmakers about possible coercive tactics by associates of Gov. Eric Greitens, as the state legislature is set to consider impeaching the embattled governor. Two state Republican lawmakers told CNN they were contacted and interviewed in recent weeks by FBI agents, who asked whether they were aware of any threats and bribes made on behalf of the governor regarding an impeachment vote. One of the lawmakers, who met with an agent in Jefferson City, said they told the FBI they were not directly aware of any such incidents. The second lawmaker declined to discuss their responses to FBI questioning. The second lawmaker also said the FBI's questioning suggested investigators' interest is not limited solely to possible threats and bribes, although that was one focus.Spokespersons for the governor and the FBI did not comment. 875
