The Sarasota (Fla.) County School District confirmed they are looking into a racially offensive promposal that was posted to social media.A spokesperson for the district confirmed the Riverview High School senior posted a picture that they worry will be a disruptor to the school and student safety. The post made to Snapchat reads, "If I was Black I'd be picking cotton, but I'm white so I'm picking U 4 Prom?"The district said they have not concluded if the 18-year-old will be banned from prom as it's an ongoing investigation. Sarasota County Schools also said they sent a text alert to parents Monday morning about the situation and that they plan to have more information late Monday. The student, who Scripps station WFTS in Tampa is not identifying, also posted an apology to social media. The following message was sent to parents and students on Monday morning:  930

The ratings for Anderson Cooper's exclusive interview with Stormy Daniels won't be available until Monday afternoon.But the outpouring of reactions suggest that her account of an alleged affair with Donald Trump in 2006 captivated viewers across the country.Several hours after the interview was broadcast, Daniels' name was still the No. 1 trending topic in the U.S. on Twitter. The adult film star was also a trending topic on Facebook.The sexual encounter allegedly happened a decade before Trump was elected president. But the apparent cover-up is much more recent."For us, it wasn't so much 'there was an affair.' That's not as much the headline. For us, it's everything that has happened since and how we've gotten to this point," Cooper said in an interview for CBSNews.com about his sit-down with Daniels."I think there's more to come on this story. I'm not saying necessarily on Stormy Daniels' aspect of the story, but on the methods that were used to keep her silent," Cooper told CBSNews.com. "If Stormy Daniels' story is true that a thug came up to her in a parking lot in Las Vegas in 2011 -- this is long before Donald Trump was a presidential candidate -- I mean, if somebody is using intimidation tactics, physical intimidation tactics, it's probably not the first time they've done it. So that's a potential story I would imagine people would look at: Has this kind of thing happened before? The U.S. has now recorded at least 100,000 cases of COVID-19 each day for the last three weeks.On Monday, at least 169,190 new cases of the coronavirus were recorded throughout the U.S., marking 21 consecutive days that the country has seen at least 100,000 new COVID-19 cases.During that time span — dating back to Nov. 2 — the number of people in the country hospitalized with complications from the virus has nearly doubled from 48,557 to 85,836. Currently, about 69% of those hospitalizations are occurring in the South and Midwest, meaning some hospitals in those areas — particularly rural hospitals — are currently operating at capacity.The massive spike in cases has also caused the number of deaths linked to COVID-19 on a rolling 7-day average to nearly doubled from 826 a day to 1,515 a day. The last time the U.S. saw as many deaths per day as it sees now came back in mid-May when the country was still recovering from the virus' silent and uncontained spread in early spring. Over the weekend, the U.S. surpassed 3 million new cases in November alone. The country has recorded 12.4 million cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, meaning about one-quarter of all of those cases have occurred this month alone.Despite the bleak outlook on the state of the pandemic in the country, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the county's top expert on infectious diseases, warned Monday that the pandemic could worsen further. He said that if Americans don't follow common-sense public safety measures on Thanksgiving, cases could spike even further in December."The chances are that you will see a surge superimposed on a surge," Fauci said.Fauci recommends limiting Thanksgiving gatherings to members of a single household. The University of Tennessee's football season is officially over.On Monday, Tennessee issued a statement saying they would have to withdraw from the Liberty Bowl because of positive COVID-19 tests within their football program.According to the Associated Press, the team agreed on Sunday to play West Virginia before announcing Monday. They had to also pause all team activities after receiving their results of Sunday's COVID tests. The Liberty Bowl is set to take place on Dec. 31 in Memphis.The team said they decided to withdraw after consulting with health officials, the Southeastern Conference, and officials with the Liberty Bowl."The student-athletes and staff affected are taking the appropriate safety measures in accordance with University, CDC, and local health department guidelines," the team said in the news release.
