SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One man was arrested and another man was injured after a violent argument at a Gaslamp convenience store.San Diego Police say a customer at the 7-11 store at 515 5th Ave. was causing a disturbance at about 9 a.m. Saturday. Another customer confronted the man inside the store and the confrontation escalated into a fight.At one point, the 31-year-old suspect stabbed the 52-year-old victim in the left side of his abdomen, police said.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries and police arrested the suspect, though their identities were not released. 614

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police on the campus of San Diego State University are hoping surveillance photos will lead to an arrest in a recent burglary. The pictures are clear. They show two men walking in the hallway of a campus building. Another photo shows them at a different angle. Police aren't releasing details about the burglary, but they say right now, there is no threat to campus. This is the latest in a series of crimes on or near campus. Last Wednesday night around 8:30, two men armed with guns robbed two people as they sat in their car. It happened in the north alley off of 55th and Montezuma. Taylor Langpap and her roommate, Jessica Ancar, walk the alley all the time to get to their apartment. "I was a little uneasy that it was just really close to my apartment, but I wasn't really surprised cause stuff like that happens all the time here," said Jessica. In the fall, there was a string or robberies where students had their cellphones stolen. In another case, a man was charged with ripping off students who were trying to sell things on the App Offer Up. Campus police aren't saying if the men in the surveillance photos are wanted in any other crimes, but students say they are always taking precautions, especially when walking after dark. "I make sure to call one of my family members or a friend, and then if I am not on the phone with someone, I try to keep very aware of my surroundings. They have blue lights around campus, you just have to make sure where those are so you can get where you are going safely," said Alexandra Howder. 1570

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Parents rallied at Poway Unified District Headquarters during their monthly board meeting, asking them to pause on proposed plans to bring a Costco to land zoned to build a school.The vacant lot is at the corner of Camino Del Sur and Carmel Valley Road and was labeled a surplus by the Poway Unified School District.That means they don't need it and believe they have enough schools in the area.Parent Gianni Nguyen said that's not true, "in our particular area the schools are impacted, so no."Nguyen said she doesn't mind the idea of creating mixed use retail, restaurants and a Costco, but she was angered by the process the board went through to get the deal."I felt like we were just robbed... We just want to be part of that process, bring us to the table, give us a voice, let us share with you what our opinions are," she said.The board voted unanimously at their September meeting to pursue a long term lease with Costco, that spans decades. Nguyen said the community was blindsided."I have four kids in the public school district, four young kids, my oldest is only 12, so I am very passionate about this," she said looking away.She hopes the rally makes the board pause and reconsider moving forward on this deal.Nguyen added, "we're going to unite and say we do have a voice and there should be a choice and you guys should be in there to represent us and if you're not representing us, who are you representing?"The deal was not on the agenda Thursday. 1493

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Newly-elected San Diego District 4 councilwoman Monica Montgomery is vowing to improve the relationship between her community and the police department. On Monday, she was unanimously appointed to the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee. More than a dozen community members spoke during a special meeting on Monday, backing Montgomery. The overwhelming support for her appointment quickly turned to frustration and anger towards the rest of the council and the police department about Aleah Jenkins, who died in SDPD custody early this month. Montgomery says she hears the community's frustration and is ready to get to work. "A lot of this stems just not from the support of me, but the desire to have real action in our community when it comes to our police and community relations," said Montgomery.She plans on taking a closer look at an SDSU racial profiling study within the department and look into possibly giving the Community Review Board subpoena powers to allow them to perform independent investigations and obtain sworn testimony during alleged police misconduct. "I'm confident we'll do the right thing. Everyone will need to do the right thing; we're at a crossroads and we need to do the right thing by our people and by our officers," added Montgomery. The police department insists there is no evidence of force used during Jenkins' arrest and is referring all questions to the district attorney. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- North County leaders, including city mayors and Supervisor Jim Desmond, joined Legoland officials Friday morning in a press conference demanding answers from the state as to when and how they can reopen.They said a letter was sent last week to Gov. Gavin Newsom requesting that the state implement protocols to abide by to reopen, similar to what they established with schools.Legoland's park is mainly outdoors and has been closed since March. Their hotel opened in July and hotel guests can access the main promenade but the park wants to open its doors to the public. The park's president, Kurt Stocks, said Legoland has implemented safety guidelines for the attraction to operate outdoors with sanitizer stations, distance markers and temperature checks upon entering. Stocks said he and city leaders believe the state needs to implement guidelines for all businesses across San Diego county, indoor and outdoor, so employees who were furloughed or laid off can get back to work. At Friday's press conference, leaders also stated they constantly receive calls from residents with questions as to when they can open their businesses back up and hope to provide them with answers sooner than later. "We've heard very little and I recognize the state has to make decisions for businesses across California. but what we're doing today is calling on the state to recognize that San Diego attractions are safe to open." 1445
