A woman who was seen slapping a police officer as she was carried out of a University of Miami football game has been charged with felony battery on a police officer and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, the Associated Press reported. According to Local 10, Miami-Dade Metro Police received the video shortly after Saturday's incident, and was in the process of investigating. In the video, Bridget Freitas, who was dressed in a Miami Hurricanes shirt, was being carried away by several police officers. A years-long battle between the Cornwall-Lebanon, Pennsylvania School District and social studies teacher Luke "Todd" Scipioni finally came to an end this week when a court ruled that Scipioni can return to work, the Lebanon Daily News reported. School officials learned in 2014 that Scipioni had sex with a female student on her graduation night in 2004. The allegations surfaced during Scipioni's divorce proceedings, the Daily News reported. The Daily News reported that Scipioni and the student developed a relationship during the 2003-04 school year, but it did not turn sexual until student's graduation. The relationship ceased when she went off to college at the end of the summer. The district then fired Scipioni in October 2014 when it confirmed the relationship between Scipioni and the student. Scipioni then challenged the district in court, with an arbitrator’s ruling that Scipioni was not forthcoming in the details of the relationship, and that he should be suspended for one year, but not banned from teaching. This week, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that Scipioni should not have been punished beyond the suspension, and is entitled to return to his job.Scipioni is reportedly interested in returning to work for the district after he and the district settle on back pay. A district spokesperson said that while it disagrees with the ruling, it will abide by the justices' ruling. 1546

A week after they voted to unionize, journalists at DNAinfo and Gothamist learned that their websites have shut down.On Thursday evening, visitors to the sites -- two leading suppliers of local news in New York City -- were met with a message from billionaire owner Joe Ricketts."Today, I've made the difficult decision to discontinue publishing DNAinfo and Gothamist. Reaching this decision wasn't easy, and it wasn't one I made lightly," said Ricketts, who founded TD Ameritrade and is worth a little more than billion according to Forbes.He added that DNAinfo, which was founded in 2009, "is, at the end of the day, a business, and businesses need to be economically successful if they are to endure.""And while we made important progress toward building DNAinfo into a successful business, in the end, that progress hasn't been sufficient to support the tremendous effort and expense needed to produce the type of journalism on which the company was founded. I want to thank our readers for their support and loyalty through the years. And I want to thank our employees for their tireless effort and dedication."The announcement marks a dramatic change of fortune for staffers at the two websites. Last week, reporters and editors there were celebrating a successful vote to form a union. The efforts to organize began in the spring after DNAinfo bought Gothamist.But Ricketts refused to recognize the union, which meant that the National Labor Relations Board had to conduct an official vote. In September, Ricketts explained his opposition to unions on his blog."I believe unions promote a corrosive us-against-them dynamic that destroys the esprit de corps businesses need to succeed," he wrote.
