WUHAN, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) - Chinese courts would seek to create their own management system for authenticating judicial evidence within the next five years, said Su Zelin, vice president of the Supreme People's Court.Su made the remarks Monday during a meeting held in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.The proposed system, which would further clarify the courts' working procedures and protocols while examining and verifying authenticated evidence, would be based on the current system administered by the Ministry of Justice, said Su.The Supreme People's Court plans to build its own forensic lab and relevant specialist pool to ensure the neutrality and authenticity of evidence used in court proceedings, Su added.

BELGRADE, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Celebrating 30 years of cooperation and fraternal relations between the capitals of Serbia and China, an art exhibit entitled "The Beauty of Beijing" was opened in the Old Palace in Belgrade on Tuesday.Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas extended a welcome to the visiting Beijing delegation, underscoring years of cooperation and cultural exchanges."For us the bridge we are going to build together is important, along with our cultural components which will complement our desire for Belgrade in 2020 to be the European 'cultural capital'," said Djilas, making reference to the 1,507-meter bridge over the Danube River to be constructed by Chinese firms. BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China on Thursday again called on the relevant parties to make joint efforts to safeguard peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula.Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks at a regular press briefing.The Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) exchanged artillery fire Tuesday in waters off the west coast of the Korean Peninsula, leaving four people dead.Hong initially expressed China's stance Wednesday with regard to the exchange of fire between the ROK and the DPRK.On Thursday, Hong again called on parties involved to stay calm and exercise restraint, and urged the ROK and DPRK to engage in dialogue and refrain from similar actions.China has always maintained that the relevant parties resolve disputes through negotiations and by peaceful means and be committed to safeguarding peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula, Hong said.China opposed any acts that harmed the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula, he went on."It is very urgent and important to restart the six-party talks at the current stage," Hong said, adding China had maintained close contact with all the parties involved, including the United States.He said China hoped parties involved could make concerted efforts to properly handle their concerns through talks and consultation within the framework of the six-party talks, which involved China, the DPRK, the United States, the ROK, Russia and Japan.China would like to make concerted efforts with all parties to help ease tension, seek peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula, Hong said.With respect to the planned joint military drill between the United States and the ROK in waters off the west coast of the Korean Peninsula from Nov.28 to Dec. 1, Hong said China was concerned."China holds a consistent and clear stance on the issue," Hong said without elaborating.

BEIJING, Dec.24 (Xinhua) -- China will bring its overall money supply to a normal level with a range of policy tools next year as the government shifts monetary policy from "moderately loose" to "prudent", the central bank said Friday in a statement on its website, citing Deputy Governor Hu Xiaolian.Hu, a deputy governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), said at a meeting with bankers that China needs a shift to a prudent monetary policy to rein in rising consumer prices and curb asset bubbles.China is facing tremendous inflationary pressures, with the country' s consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, accelerated to a 28-month high in November of 5.1 percent."The major task for next year's monetary policy will be normalizing money supplies," she said, noting that the growth in money supply, mostly measured by M2, or the broad money supply, should be slowed from the pace during the implementation of a moderately loose policy.The Chinese government should maintain a "reasonable and moderate" credit growth next year that is in line with the country's goal in economic development and inflation control.New yuan-denominated loans in China stood at 7.45 trillion yuan in the first 11 months of this year - just shy of the government's full-year target of 7.5-trillion-yuan.Hu said with the global financial crisis having eased from its peak and China's stabilized economic momentum, the country is able to maintain a steady and relatively rapid economic growth with a prudent monetary policy.Hu stressed that China is facing pressure due to ample liquidity from home and abroad, and for the next phase, the Chinese government will work on liquidity controls with a range of policy tools, including open market operations and adjustment in interest rates and reserve requirement ratios.She highlighted the use of the differential reserve requirement ratio to supplement regular policy tools, which could guide banks to lend "reasonably, moderately and steadily" and boost risk controls in the financial system.China increased interest rates by 0.25 percentage points in October and hiked the bank reserve requirement ratio six times this year to 18.5 percent and 19 percent for some large commercial banks in a move to curb lending amid accelerating inflation.
