President Donald Trump said in a statement that he will contest President-Elect Joe Biden’s win, adding that he does not accept the result of last Tuesday’s election.Saturday morning, the Associated Press projected Biden to win the state of Pennsylvania, which gives him a projected 290 Electoral College votes to become president. Biden is leading Pennsylvania by more than 34,000 votes with a small number of ballots left to be counted. Moments after Pennsylvania was called, the Associated Press also called Nevada, meaning even if Biden had not won Pennsylvania, he would reach 270 Electoral College votes. Despite few ballots being left to be counted in Pennsylvania and Biden leading by .5%, Trump says he will fight the result. “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed. The simple fact is this election is far from over,” the Trump campaign said in a statement. “Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.” The ballots left to be counted are provisional ballots, with some leftover mail-in ballots. The final certification of the election in Pennsylvania comes on November 23.The Trump campaign alleged that it received improper access to monitor counting in Philadelphia. Earlier this week, the Trump campaign won a lawsuit that allowed them to stand 6 feet from vote counters instead of 20 feet.“Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated. The American People are entitled to an honest election: that means counting all legal ballots, and not counting any illegal ballots. This is the only way to ensure the public has full confidence in our election," the campaign said. For days, Trump claimed the election was being stolen, despite no evidence of any widespread miscounting or fraud. For months, Trump sowed doubt in the mail-in vote process. In many states, like Pennsylvania, his supporters listened by voting in person rather than through the mail.In Pennsylvania, Trump won the Election Day vote by a 2-to-1 margin, but trailed the mail-in vote by a 3-to-1 margin.“There’s tremendous amount of litigation generally because of how unfair this process was,” Trump said earlier this week. “And I predicted that. I've been talking about mail-in voting for a long time. It's, uh, it's really destroyed our system. It's a corrupt system, and it makes people corrupt, even if they aren't by nature, but they become corrupt.”Because of Pennsylvania state law, boards of elections were not permitted to count mail-in ballots until Tuesday. Mail-in ballots generally take longer to tabulate, which is why results were tabulated through the week. With mail-in votes taking longer to count in addition to the contrasting voting habits of Biden and Trump supporters, Trump's once monumental lead disappeared. (KGTV) - The City of Poway is seeking the public's input on how to best preserve the history of the landmark known as the Big Stone Lodge, although the City Council appears to be moving toward demolishing the building. "There's been a lot of talk about just tearing it down and keeping a pile of rocks," said former Poway Mayor Mary Shepardson, who has been helping lead the effort to turn the site into a park. "That would be like tearing Stonehenge down and keeping a pile of rocks. It's not the same thing."Shepardson's family has been in Poway for 70 years and used to eat regularly at the lodge's restaurant. She says the area is an important local landmark, first built in 1923 along the stagecoach route into San Diego. The city bought the property once the business closed and it has fallen into disrepair over the last 20 years. Squatters regularly break in and use the building for illicit activities, according to city officials, creating a health and safety danger. "The property has really been deteriorating and has become a nuisance," said Director of Development Services Bob Manis.The City Council is expected to vote in the next few months on whether to demolish the structures. But while the site has been designated for future affordable housing, the council has no timeline for deciding what to ultimately do with the property. In the meantime, they have directed city staff to identify parts of the Big Stone Lodge building and surrounding property that could be preserved and possibly integrated into future plans.Manis points to the namesake big stones, which can be seen from the exterior in the building's two chimneys, as well as the numerous old trees surrounding the property, as elements that could be saved and worked into whatever comes next.Shepardson is one of hundreds of people who supports turning the Big Stone Lodge into a passive park. A petition to do that was created on Change.org by Jessica Johnson, the founder of the popular website "Hidden San Diego." Johnson points to the value of the area for hiking and says any development of the property would be harmful. "I feel that over the years the city has stopped being respectful to San Diego's heritage and we're just slowly destroying everything of historical value," Johnson said.A public workshop will be held Thursday night at the council chambers to share preservation ideas. 2398

(KGTV) -- A cluster of ten church-run thrift shops at a Poway shopping center, described as a “Disneyland” for discount hunters, will begin to close early next year.In preparation for redevelopment, the owners of the Carriage Center West Shopping Center near Poway and Carriage roads have informed all the tenants that their leases will expire in 2020.While some of the stores will move to new locations, at least four of the church-run thrifts are in danger of closing permanently.“It would take a miracle to find a place that we could afford to move to,” said Marcia Harrod, who has volunteered for 19 years at St. Bartholomew's Thrift Shop.St. Bart’s has operated a thrift shop for 53 years.Sumner Rollings, the president of the thrift shop, said a committee of volunteers spent 18 months searching for a new location, without luck.“The biggest factor has been the cost per square foot of space,” he said.The shop’s lease will expire in February.Built in 1974, the Carriage Center is considered a “mecca” for thrift store fans because it offers 10 stores within walking distance, along with restaurants and other service businesses.“It’s really sad,” said one customer named Tina who said she shops at the Carriage Center weekly. “I’m retired and this is my Disneyland.”St. Michael’s Thrift Shop is also in danger of closing permanently.“We don’t charge Nordstrom prices so we can’t pay Nordstrom rent either,” said volunteer Ken Baumann.Sales at St. Michael’s keep 1,000 kids in Haiti clothed, he said.St. Bart’s raised ,000 for church services last year, said Rollings.“It’s been an incredible run as far as supporting the outreach of the church, and all good things come to an end,” Rollings said. “Something else will take its place.” 1766

However, some businesses changed their hours of operation or how many people the business could support at once thanks to the pandemic, so customers would be losing their money on these purchases.Now, Groupon offers customers 72 hours to cancel any purchases, just in case. Even with the extended grace period though, some say it's still a good idea to call ahead and double-check how a business is operating."Figuring out what the business looks like, have their hours been affected, are they temporarily closed because of COVID and if they are open it’s not a bad idea to call and see if they are honoring the group because so many businesses are being affected by COVID," Sara Kemerer, a Tri-State public relations specialist with the Better Business Bureau, said to WCPO.On its coronavirus update page, Groupon said if your voucher was extended past its expiration date, you'd receive an email with the new expiration date.Groupon also said you can check your My Groupons on your account to see if the expiration date has been extended.
