Grand jury recordings of the Breonna Taylor case released on Friday reveal initial interviews police conducted with Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker."I'm scared. I don't know what to say," Walker told investigators on the same day his girlfriend was shot and killed in their apartment during a drug raid by Louisville Metro Police.Grand jurors listened to a series of interviews police conducted with Walker.Walker said he and Taylor were watching a movie when the first knock on the door happened. As more knocks came, Walker told investigators the repeatedly yelled, 'Who is it?' with no response."She's yelling at the top of her lungs, and I am too at this point. No answer. No response. Nothing," Walker said. "I was scared to death."Knocking continued as they were getting dressed. Walker told investigators he grabbed his gun at that point."It's the middle of the night, [someone is] knocking on the door and not even saying who they are. What are you going to do if you're at home with your family, and somebody is knocking on your door, and you don't know who it is after you've asked?" Walker defended himself when investigators questioned him later about the gun.While walking to the door, Walker said he saw the door come off the hinges."I let just let off one shot. I still can't see who it is or anything," he recounted.Attorney General Daniel Cameron has said Walker's bullet hit Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly's thigh, but Walker's attorney has disputed the fact.Walker told investigators he and Taylor dropped to the ground when police began firing, and the gun fell from his hands. When the shooting stopped, Walker said he saw Taylor bleeding near him."She's right here bleeding, and nobody's coming, and I'm just confused and scared. I feel the same right now," he said.In questioning, investigators asked Walker about his and Taylor's history with law enforcement. Walker told them Taylor's record was clean while he had recently done jail time for a DUI. As investigators pressed Walker to answer why he believed police might be at Taylor's apartment that night, he responded that he didn't know. He said he thought someone was trying to break in."As I said, I and her have no dealings with the police," Walker said. A spike in crude oil prices has lifted the national average price of gas by 31 percent over the past year to an average of .97 a gallon, according to AAA.Prices at the pump haven't been this high heading into the biggest driving holiday of the year since 2014, when crude was sitting in triple-digit territory."WIthout a doubt people are noticing and they're feeling the pinch," said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, a platform that helps drivers find real-time prices.AAA says that fifteen states, including New York, New Jersey and Illinois, are already facing average gas prices or higher. Gas in California and Hawaii, traditionally two of the priciest states, is north of .70 a gallon.Here's why gasoline prices are getting uncomfortably high:People are driving more: The United States is consuming more gasoline, thanks to the strong economy and upbeat consumer confidence.That trend could continue into this weekend. HELENA, MT. - About 120 soldiers arrived in Helena after a year-long deployment to the Middle East.The Montana Army National Guard 1-189th General Support Aviation Battalion deployed to the Middle East in October 2019 and conducted operations throughout the Middle East like Syria and Iraq. National Guard leadership was one of the first to welcome home their soldiers.“The wind, the weather, they're coming out of Fort Hood, which is much warmer and they're stoked,” says Donald Emerson, Assistant Adjutant General for the Montana National Guard. “They're happy, doesn't matter. They're just glad to be with their families. It's great to see."In total, about 240 soldiers reunited with their families in Montana, dropping them off in airports nearest to home. The Montana National Guard dropped off their soldiers in groups of about 50 to maintain pandemic changes. Then they were led to their families, and they also received a community reunion from people outside the hangar waiting to welcome them home.“I just wanted to welcome these guys home,” says Puanani Wevers, a Helena resident. She stood outside waving an American flag as soldiers were leaving the hangar. “I mean, it's been a year that parents have, you know, not had their children home and loved ones. GLEN BURNIE, Maryland — Two kennel owners are facing dozens of charges after several dogs were found neglected in their care, and one of them had to be put down. On March 20, Anne Arundel County Police say they got a complaint about Olympian Kennels, a company that was supposed to be training and caring for dogs. Some of the dog owners were concerned after they could not reach the kennel's owners, Rebecca Wolfe or Cameron Whitaker-Nelson. In addition to not being able to reach the owners, there were concerns raised after Wolfe posted a message on social media saying Animal Control had taken all of the animals in her care and custody, but Animal Control had not done that.After an investigation, police found six dogs in the basement of Wolfe and Whitaker-Nelson's home on Shade Drive in Glen Burnie. Two of the dogs were severely weak and sick. The basement where the dogs were kept smelled of ammonia and fecal matter. One of the two sick dogs was having trouble breathing and had to be put down shortly after going to the animal hospital. The five other dogs were returned to their owners following a checkup from a veterinarian. The adventures of Maizie Rai with her human best friend Fiona Dawson are well documented on social media, their story is now intertwined with this house.“I had to sit there and watch them take dogs out of their house but not my dog," said Dawson."  I don’t know where she is I don’t know where her body is I don’t know anything.”Dawson's story lines up with numerous other's who have reached out about neglect at this home.The couple used to work for Jessica breeding at Premier Dog Training and Boarding.Wolfe worked the front desk and Whitaker-Nelson was a trainer, Breeding said she trusted them initially.Putting dogs into trainers homes to acclimate is how most dogs complete their training.Breeding got suspicious when a service dog in training named King died in the couples care and the couple refused to get a necropsy done. "After two weeks we were asking her for the results she wouldn't’t give them to us,” said Breeding.  “I ended up calling the vet and they said no necropsy was ever done. It was a battle to try to get the body from the vet for me to actually get a necropsy done. We found out that the dog had passed because of negligent circumstances.”Around that time Dawson started to get worried about Maizie Rai.ABC2 got emails that show an agreement with the couple Dawson met through Premier Dog Training.Dawson had to travel a lot for much for work, so the couple would take in Maizie Dawson would pay for her food, medicine, and give the couple 0 a month.Wolfe and Nelson would take care of Maizie long term and Dawson could set up visits.“I picked her up and she seemed to be doing great,” said Dawson. “She was socializing with other dogs which was quite unusual for her because she had such anxiety when she was with me. I really kind of felt like she was having a better life with them then she was with me."That was the last time Watson saw Maizie Rai.She said for two months the pictures were replaced by excuses and then nothing.“Throughout all this time never in my mind did I think that she wouldn’t be alive,” Dawson said. Dawson and Breeding went to the house to figure out what was going on, no one answered.Anne Arundel County Police and Animal Control joined them,that's when the couple finally came out of the house. “I say "Hi Cameron here for Maizie Rai". In front of the police and animal control.  Cameron looks me in the eye and says "Fiona we texted you a couple of months ago not sure if you got it or not but Maizie Rai died". I just lost it, and screamed and cried almost hyperventilated.  We then sat back and watched animal control take dogs out of their house.”Dawson has no idea where Maizie Rai's body is.This is also not the first time there have been complaints against the two kennel owners. There have been two prior complaints made in May of 2017 and January of 2018. The investigation is still ongoing and can result in additional charges. Anyone with information is asked to contact Animal Control Officer Wolfe at 410-222-3929 (no relation to suspect Rebecca Wolfe).We were able to reach Whitaker-Nelson on the phone, he said he had no comment and that he didn't know what was going on.Wolfe and Whitaker-Nelson have each been charged with 40 counts of animal cruelty. 4506
