WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department says Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has come into contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19 and is quarantining. The department said Wednesday that Pompeo had tested negative for the virus but was being monitored by medical professionals. The department said it would not identify the infected person with whom Pompeo came into contact for privacy reasons. The announcement comes as Pompeo and the department have been criticized for hosting holiday parties amid the coronavirus pandemic. WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An 8-year-old has gone above and beyond this holiday season.Aiden Foster didn’t give up until a West Palm Beach woman found her cat which ran away weeks ago.The past 10 years Ashley Goldstein and her furry friend, Tobin, have been inseparable. But just days after they settled into a new home, Tobin disappeared.“I was desperate to find him. I put flyers up,”Goldstein said.She searched for several days which then turned into weeks, still no sign of Tobin.“Honestly I thought I was never going to see him again. I kinda gave up,” she said.At that moment, a glimmer of hope.Ashley received a phone call with the news that she’d been desperately waiting for.“It’s this little boy telling me that he thinks he saw my cat,” she explained.It was Foster, the neighborhood pet detective, who promised to help.“I saw him in the backyard he ran over the fence,” Foster said.Aiden kept his word and went above and beyond, using a little creativity in the process.“So I tried to go after him and I just couldn’t so I just put my cat food that was there, I put a trail all the way down there left a whole big pile over there ,” Foster said.60 days after his disappearance, Ashley received her Christmas miracle. WASHINGTON, D.C. (KGTV) - San Diego Congressman Duncan Hunter showed Wednesday video and photographs at the center of a Navy SEAL war crimes investigation to members of Congress. Chief Eddie Gallagher is accused of murdering an ISIS soldier and shooting Iraqi civilians in 2017. Prosecutors say Gallagher killed the unarmed Islamic State prisoner, and tried to kill an elderly man and a 12-year-old girl. Gallagher was arrested on war crimes charges last fall. “I think Eddie needs his day in court,” Hunter said after a Capitol Hill meeting Tuesday. “This is the smoking gun and there’s no gun whatsoever,” Hunter said. Hunter said he shared video indicated the ISIS soldier was injured in the U.S. government bombing of a building and interrogated by the Iraqi military before being turned over to Navy SEALS. Gallagher performed first aid on the ISIS soldier, one of the representatives said. “I don’t trust the Navy to give him a fair trial. With all the focus on this case, he stands more of a chance of getting a fair trial now than he would have if we had not brought to light what I think are all the injustices against him to this point,” said Hunter.
