It’s time for the annual Leonid meteor shower, which gets its name because meteors often appear to originate from the constellation Leo.It peaks on the night of Saturday, Nov. 17 and early the next morning.Meteors may be visible throughout the month of November, but the peak should produce rates of 10 to 15 meteors per hour, according to Space.com.The best chance for seeing meteors is to find somewhere dark, away from city lights. The waxing gibbous moon also will pose a challenge this year, as its brightness will drown out some of the dimmer meteors.Despite the meteor shower’s name, meteors should be visible across the night sky in all directions. 669

It has finally happened! For the first time in the history of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, a 16-seed team has defeated a top seed. No. 16 seed UMBC dominated No. 1 seed Virginia 74-54 on Friday. Friday's upset marks the first time in 136 games that a No. 1 seed lost in the first round. Not only was Virginia considered one of four No. 1 seeds in this year's NCAA Tournament, the Cavaliers were considered the top overall seed after a 31-2 season. The average 1 seed wins their first-round matchup by 25 points. Virginia's basketball program is no stranger to being part of major upsets. In 1982, No. 1-ranked Virginia lost to Chaminade, then a member of the NAIA. The upset spurred the annual Thanksgiving-week Maui Invitational tournament, hosted by Chaminade.  819

It's a split! Players in Iowa and New York will share Saturday's massive Powerball jackpot. Two tickets matched all winning numbers on Saturday and the winners will split the estimated 7.8 million jackpot or a one-time cash option of 6.2 million -- the fourth largest in US lottery history. Each ticket is worth 3.9 million or 8.1 million cash. It's still unclear how many people won Powerball's top prize. The winning numbers drawn Saturday were 8, 12, 13, 19, 27 and the Powerball was 4.The total jackpot was slightly adjusted from an estimated 0 million based on the actual drawing sales. The largest Powerball jackpot was .586 billion and it was split three ways in January 2016.Saturday's total jackpot was surely mind-blowing. Just imagine, if you had it all in 0 bills it would make a stack nearly as high as the tallest tower in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, according to the Powerball website. The Burj Khalifa is twice the height of New York's Empire State Building and three times as tall as the Eiffel Tower in Paris.Powerball has paid out its top prize only seven times this year, lottery officials said. Before Saturday's drawing, there were 21 drawings without a winner. The last winning ticket that took home the jackpot was sold in New York in August. But don't throw away your ticket yet, there are plenty of secondary prizes. Lottery officials say two tickets in Florida and Texas won million and 13 others in nine states won million each. Each Powerball ticket is . The game is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. 1611

In recent weeks, President Donald Trump has claimed the increased mail-in voting could endanger the integrity of the 2020 election, despite ample evidence to the contrary. He's even threatened to delay the election over the issue — something he does not have the power to do under the Constitution. However, in a Tuesday afternoon tweet, Trump backtracked his stance on mail-in voting in at least one state: Florida."Whether you call it Vote by Mail or Absentee Voting, in Florida the election system is Safe and Secure, Tried and True," Trump tweeted. "Florida's Voting system has been cleaned up (we defeated Democrats attempts at change), so in Florida I encourage all to request a Ballot & Vote by Mail." 719

INDIANAPOLIS -- Members of a neighborhood on Indianapolis' northwest side are asking police to do something about a woman caught on camera attacking neighbors with a yard sign and threatening their lives. The woman was seen on video pulling signs out of Miguel Rios and Luvia Roman's yard and saying she'll kill them, all over a property line dispute on Twin Creeks Drive, just north of Northwestway Park.Neighbors say the woman has a history of harassing minority neighbors. Corey Banks, a neighbor from across the street, said he's been called the N-word multiple times by her. Rios and Roman bought the house next door to the woman about a year and a half ago. They say the woman has called the health department, narcotics and child protective services in an effort to get them to move."I'm scared for my life," Rios said. "I'm scared for my family's life. And it's just not right." 918
