BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping said Tuesday that China stands ready to work with Tanzania to closely synergize their development strategies, deliver more solid outcomes in their comprehensive cooperative partnership, and contribute to the building of the China-Africa community with a shared future.

Regarded as the "latest fruit" of socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, the thought reflects the leadership's growing understanding of the laws of economic and social development and makes clear the key principles to be upheld in promoting economic development for a new era.

China should take part in the global intellectual property governance within the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organization, promote the improvement of international rules and standards concerning IPR and related international trade and investment fields, and push the global intellectual property governance system in a more just and equitable direction, Xi said.

Effective from Jan. 1, a 10-year fishing ban will cover all the key waters of the Yangtze River. The move will help the country's longest waterway recover from dwindling aquatic resources and degrading biodiversity. A fishing ban has been in place for 332 conservation areas along the river since the beginning of this year.

In this context, the speech by the Chinese president is of practical significance and can help guide the international community to make concerted efforts in fighting the pandemic effectively, Alshaabani said.
