The FBI, in a change of policy, is committing to inform state officials if local election systems have been breached, federal officials said Thursday.In the past, the FBI would alert local governments about attacks on their electoral systems without automatically sharing that information with the state. It may also ease concerns of local officials who in the past have complained about the lack of information they’ve received from the federal government, though cooperation has improved ahead of the 2020 election with concerns that Russia or another nation could try to tamper with the vote. Ron DeSantis said last May that he was frustrated when he saw a reference to the Florida hacking in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russan interference in the 2016 election. DeSantis said he signed an agreement with the FBI not to disclose the names of the two counties where hackers gained access to the voting database and that his predecessor as governor did not have access to the information.Rep. Multiple vigils were held in the city, honoring the 20 people who lost their lives after a gunman opened fire at a Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall. Police received calls reporting a gunman in the area just after 10:30 a.m. local time.Bishop Jesus Ibarra held a special mass Sunday at La Paz Faith Memorial and Spiritual Center. “It hurts me to see the extent of violence, especially when it’s people who have nothing to do with the events that happened,” Bishop Ibarra said.The shooting hit the community hard. Twenty roses were displayed for the 20 lives lost in the attack. THE BRONX — Police say a man working on a transformer has been killed near an Amtrak rail line in in the Bronx Thursday morning, authorities said.Authorities were called to the scene after 11 a.m.MTA officials said the incident occurred at an Amtrak facility. The facility is located nearby a Con Edison Van Nest substation.FDNY officials confirmed one person was dead and two others sustained minor injuries.
