NARA, Japan, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Culture Minister Cai Wu met with Seiichi Kondo, Commissioner for Cultural Affairs of Japan, Yu In-Chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea on Tuesday in Japan's Nara for the 3rd China-Japan- South Korea Ministerial Conference on Culture.The officials exchanged views on China-Japan, China-South Korea bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation.During the meeting with Kondo, Cai said that the scale and number of China-Japan cultural exchanges rank the first in international cultural exchanges in China and China is willing to develop the bilateral relations on a strategic and long-term point of view.China will enhance the strategic and mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries through cultural exchanges and cooperation, he added.This year, the Chinese Ministry of Culture, with the joint efforts of the two countries' concerned departments, will hold China-Japan "Animation Festival" as well as "Television Week."Seiichi Kondo agreed with Cai's comments on China-Japan cultural exchanges and cooperation and added that although China and Japan experienced some political twists and turns, Japan always attaches great importance to and actively promote the bilateral cultural exchanges and cooperation.Japan is willing to work hand-in-glove with China in regional cooperation and contribute to improving the bilateral relationship, the Japanese official said.During the meeting with Yu In-Chon, Cai said that with the joint efforts of the leaders and different circles from both countries, China-South Korea cultural exchanges have become an important part of the bilateral strategic partnership.The South Korean minister said the width and depth of cultural exchanges have been expanded year by year. BEIJING, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- China will carry out the House Sale Price Statistical Scheme in 2011, after soliciting opinions via the internet earlier this year, said Ma Jiantang, head of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday.Ma made the remarks at a national statistics work conference, saying the bureau had accepted suggestions from various departments and experts and would work steadily reform the method of calculating the country's house sale prices in 2011."We'll further work with real estate departments, make full use of their network data, and check the authenticity of the data to further push forward the statistical scheme reform," Ma said.The NBS was committed to improve the scheme at the beginning of the year. It released the draft plan on September 25, which said prices, floor areas, and sales of newly-constructed houses in 35 major cities would be based upon data from local real estate departments, instead of independent research.Ma said that the bureau is working on 4 key systems, including building a database for basic surveyed units, one set of standards for surveyed enterprises, data collecting and processing software systems, and direct reporting network systems."The four systems are aimed to guarantee the authenticity, integrity and timeliness of the data," he said.By 2012, above-scale enterprises, above-norm wholesale and retail accommodations and catering businesses, construction enterprises, and real estate enterprises will be able to submit their data directly to a national data center, said the NBS.Also, about 550 cities across the country will use personal digital assistants (PDA) to collect data for the consumer price index (CPI), a major gauge of inflation, as well as farm produce prices, by the end of 2012, the NBS said.

BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Saturday discussed the latest situation on the Korean Peninsula in phone calls with Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and Japanese foreign minister Seiji Maehara.The discussions follow an artillery exchange between South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in waters off the west coast of the divided peninsula on Tuesday.During the conversations, Yang said safeguarding peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula served the common interests of concerned parties.Those parties should call on the DPRK and South Korea to exercise calmness and restraint and hold dialogue and make contacts, and not to take actions that would escalate the conflict, he said.He said all parties should work together to help cool the situation as soon as possible and effectively ensure no repeat of such conflict.Meanwhile, the Chinese minister expressed the hope that concerned parties would take a reasonable and pragmatic approach to actively create favorable conditions for resuming the six-party talks.The parties should also commit themselves to establish related mechanisms at an early date to eliminate various factors threatening peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the whole region.Lavrov said Russia agreed with China on the latest situation and was ready to keep close contact with China to help defuse the tensions on the peninsula and create conditions for a restart of the six-party talks.Maehara said that Japan is willing to work together with China to jointly safeguard peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and push forward the denuclearization process of the Peninsula.During Tuesday's incident, shells landed on South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island near the contentious sea border called Northern Limit Line (NLL). However, the country's abundant mineral resources are yet to be explored and utilized due to various reasons such as technical and financial constraints, he told Xinhua.Sudan welcomes and encourages Chinese companies to do business and to invest in his country, hoping that the two countries could diversify mutually beneficial cooperation, said Gailani.Sudan aims to utilize its resources in an efficient and rational manner through sharing China's advanced technologies and learning from the country's rich experiences and increasing financial input in the mining sector in a bid to step up the development of its national economy, the minister added.Gailani was in China for the 12th China Mining Congress & Expo, which will be held in the northern port city of Tianjin from Tuesday to Thursday.The annual event is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants from over 50 countries and regions.
