IKEA is ending the publication of its iconic catalog after 70 years.The Swedish retailer cited the reason for ending it was due to consumers shopping online.IKEA said last year, their online retail sales increased by 45% worldwide, and they saw 4 billion users on its website."For both customers and co-workers, the IKEA Catalog is a publication that brings a lot of emotions, memories, and joy. For 70 years, it has been one of our most unique and iconic products, which has inspired billions of people across the world," said Konrad Grüss, Managing Director, Inter IKEA Systems B.V in a press release. "Turning the page with our beloved catalog is, in fact, a natural process since media consumption and customer behaviors have changed. To reach and interact with many people, we will keep inspiring with our home furnishing solutions in new ways."IKEA said they are transforming as a company and will focus more on "being more digital and accessible" by improving their digital services and launching new apps.“We are not starting from scratch. We have been transforming many aspects of how to reach and interact with our customers, and the work continues to find new ways to amplify unique IKEA home furnishing knowledge, products, and solutions in the best possible way - to inspire the many people through new ways, channels, and formats,” said Grüss.The company first released its catalog in 1951 in Sweden. "If you live above the Arctic Circle, there will be a day when the sun sets for the rest of winter. The good news? It will return and then during the summer when it won't set for days."The northern third of Alaska lies above the Arctic Circle, the ring of latitude that encircles the frigid Arctic polar region.Although Utqiagvik is not the only Alaskan town to experience this phenomenon, it is the first one on the polar night location list because of how far north it is.For about one to two months, the residents of Kaktovik, Point Hope and Anaktuvuk Pass will also be without the sun. Their final sunsets will happen between late November and early December, according to CNN affiliate KTUU.The sun officially set at 1:43 p.m. Sunday in Utqiagvik, starting its 65-day hiatus from the town. In an interview with the Washington Post, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said that the agency is proposing a ban on menthol cigarettes citing youth and minority smoking rates. According to the New York Times, a ban on menthol cigarettes could take several years to execute. It is a move that other nations have made. Canada has already implemented such a ban, and the European Union's menthol ban goes into effect in 2020. According to the FDA, menthol may reduce the irritation and harshness of smoking. According to FDA statistics, more than half of youth smokers smoke menthols. Also, a disproportionate number of minorities smoke menthols. Studies have also suggested that using menthol makes it more difficult to quit smoking, the FDA says. There have been groups, such as the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council, that have pushed the federal government to ban menthol cigarettes. The council's co-chair, Phillip Gardiner, told the Washington Post, "I’m sorry it has taken the FDA so long to come around but I’m glad they finally are. They should have done it 10 years ago and saved hundreds of thousands of lives."According to FDA figures, more than 19 million Americans smoke menthols.  1273

(KGTV) - Residents in one Imperial Beach neighborhood are hoping surveillance video will help put an end to an "endless" cycle of graffiti.In an alley off 14th Street, Gary Copeland looks at his neighbor's brand new fence and can only shake his head."It's disgusting we have to look at all this graffiti," said Copeland.On Monday around 4:30 a.m., a neighbor's motion-activated camera captured a man in a cap shaking a can of spray paint. In the next video recorded, one can hear the sound of spray paint before the man emerges from the dark. Hours later and blocks away, a camera in another alley captured a man without a cap spray-painting a similar tag on the wall of another home."It's a nuisance is what it is," said Copeland.Copeland's family has lived at his home for some four decades."You can see they've tagged my wall a few times. We've repainted, but they came back and re-tagged it," said Copeland.Copeland says his wall has been hit three times in the past six months."It's never-ending deal ... there's always tagging. Up and down the alley all these fences are tagged ...
