CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Chula Vista Police officers and San Diego County Sheriff's deputies surrounded a South Bay home Friday in a SWAT standoff.San Diego Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle near Orange Avenue and Interstate 805 in Chula Vista for a vehicle violation at about 12 p.m., according to SDSO. Deputies were working a multi-agency narcotics operation when the stop occurred.A passenger, identified as Fernando Salas, fled the vehicle shortly after the stop was initiated. Salas resisted deputies' attempted to detain him, SDSO said, resulting in minor injuries to one deputy.Salas fled into a home in the 1400 block of Camellia Court, prompting a standoff.The occupants of the home forced Salas to surrender and he was taken into custody by deputies on charges of resisting a deputy, according to SDSO. The driver of the stopped vehicle, identified as Daniel Garcia, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of metal knuckles.A person inside the home, identified as Angel Garcia, was also arrested for felony child endangerment for "his actions during the incident," according to SDSO.Several individuals ran from the home. Officers and deputies handcuffed as many as 12 people and placed them in U.S. Border Patrol or Sheriff's department vehicles. A child and dog were also removed from the home.Only Salas, Daniel Garcia, and Angel Garcia were arrested though, SDSO said.Sheriff's deputies and Chula Vista Police officers cleared the scene around 3 p.m. but didn't brief media on the situation before leaving. 1621

Christiane Amanpour will officially replace Charlie Rose on PBS stations across the country.The move was made official at the public broadcaster's annual meeting on Tuesday. It has been in the works for five months, ever since PBS stations began replaying Amanpour's CNN International program.Those half-hour Amanpour rebroadcasts were an interim replacement for Rose's 11 p.m. talk show, which was cancelled last November after women came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment and misconduct.Now Amanpour is expanding to an hour, like Rose's show used to be. The show will have a new name, "Amanpour & Company," and a stable of regular contributors. The changes will take effect in July."I'm delighted to expand my role at PBS from interim to permanent along with this remarkable diversity of voices and views," Amanpour said. "Never has the time for exploring our world and America's place in it been so urgent."Her statement also alluded to Rose's exit and the reason for it: "I am also thrilled to be a female filling this role at this time!"The expansion was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.Amanpour is CNN's chief international correspondent. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) -- Chula Vista Police have arrested six suspects in an assault with a deadly weapon and robbery of a 16-year-old boy that occurred at a Chula Vista restaurant last Thursday, law enforcement officials announced.Police officials said that four juveniles and two adults, all of whom are suspected of participating in the April 11 attack, were taken into custody on Wednesday. Four of the suspects, aged between 15- and 17-years-old, attended Morse High School and have since been suspended.The two adult suspects, Kent Pasunting, 18, and Aldrin Uy, 19, attended Mark Twain High School, an alternative/continuation high school with a campus located at Morse High School. The victim and family, along with representatives of the Cotixan restaurant, all cooperated in the investigation. He says everything started days before on Instagram, when, he says, his son told someone to stop harassing one of his friends. Martin says one teen then started messaging his son telling him he was going to beat him up.Martin says the incident was reported to Chula Vista Police but he's worried the teens will get away with what they did.Collum said the dispute began last month when the victim and suspect got into a heated exchange on social media over comments made to one of the victim’s friends. "On April 11th the victim and his girlfriend were sitting at the Cotixan restaurant when the suspects walked-in unexpectedly," Collum said. According to police, officials discovered that the juvenile was responsible for the second of two threats against the school. "The juvenile told police that he had seen the first threat online and decided to 'join-in' to further scare people. He said he thought it would be funny," police said. The teenager was arrested for making criminal threats and is expected to be released to his parents.
