An Idaho man says his new 8-week-old puppy appears happy and healthy despite being flown across the country to the wrong airport -- landing in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City before finally arriving in his arms Sunday.Owner Josh Schlaich had vented his frustration with Delta Air Lines on Facebook when the white and brindle puppy failed to arrive Saturday as scheduled and he was unable to get any answers by phone.According to Delta, the dog left Richmond, Virginia, and was due to fly into Boise on Saturday evening, connecting in Detroit and Minneapolis. But Delta says there was a mixup somewhere between Richmond and Boise -- and Schlaich actually received the wrong puppy when he arrived at the airport. Delta is investigating to determine where and how the mixup happened.When Schlaich realized that his dog was missing, he started working with Delta officials to track down his puppy.Schlaich's dog ended up spending Saturday night in a kennel in Detroit. Sunday morning, the puppy was flown to Minneapolis -- but then Delta said it "misrouted" the puppy and it ended up in Las Vegas. The puppy was then put on a plane to Salt Lake City, finally making it to Boise on Sunday night.Delta said the puppy was given food and water and let out of its crate periodically throughout the journey.In his Facebook post, Schlaich said he received a call from someone at the Delta terminal in Detroit about his dog's whereabouts, but then he got the runaround."Was then given the number of the boarding facility -- a disconnected line. Was not given a call back number by Detroit person, and the customer service would not give me their direct line. Tried calling Delta Cargo customer service, only to be yelled at by the rep and hung up on. No idea where my dog is, or what conditions he'll be placed under for the next 24 or more hours. Don't know when he will come into Boise tomorrow. No idea who to call. Absolutely ridiculous customer service."After Delta responded, Schlaich posted two updates to say the dog was delivered and safe."Local Delta reps (in Boise) did their best and were very helpful, but corporate and I will be having a thorough conversation tomorrow," he wrote.Schlaich later said Delta was "working hard to make this right."In a statement to CNN, Delta said it apologized for the mix-up and has fully refunded the dog's shipping costs and started a review of its procedures."We know pets are important members of the family," the airline said.It's at least the fourth airline error involving an animal in a week.On March 12, a French bulldog died on a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York after a flight attendant told its owner to put the dog, in its carrier, in an overhead bin. By the time the flight was over, the dog had died.A United spokesman said the passenger told the flight attendant there was a dog in the carrier, but the attendant "did not hear or understand her, and did not knowingly place the dog in the overhead bin."Tuesday, United flew a 10-year-old German shepherd to Japan when it was supposed to land in Kansas. An Omaha, Nebraska massage therapist accused of sexual assault now faces more charges.Omaha Police have now charged 62-year-old Melvin Buffington with five additional charges of Third Degree Sexual Assault.  OPD says a woman reported that Buffington sexually assaulted her during a scheduled massage appointment at Oasis Massage and Spa on January 12.  As they investigated that allegation, a second victim reported she had been sexually assaulted during her massage appointment on February 15. Prosecutors say Buffington moved the woman's underwear and penetrated her during a deep tissue massage Police took Buffington into custody on Feb. 18. On Feb. 20, Buffington had his bond set at ,000.  Omaha Police say the investigation continues and Oasis has cooperated fully.  829

CEO Tim Cook and his executive team took the stage at Lane Tech High School to discuss "creative new ideas for teachers and students."Apple showed off a new budget iPad specifically targeted toward students. The 9.7-inch device -- the same size as the traditional iPad -- will cost 9.The new iPad works with the Apple Pencil to support art projects — similar to what comes packaged with the higher-end iPad Pro tablet. Apple also teased software features such as smart annotations to help teachers mark up papers, and augmented reality support which will "enable new ways to learn."Alleged leaks of the upcoming iOS 12 software have shown a "ClassKit" platform for developers to create puzzles, tests and lesson plans for students. Augmented reality integration is a good bet, too.Apple's education business has had its ups and downs. iPads and Mac computers were once the primary devices used in American schools. But in recent years, Apple's dominance has slipped. Now, Google's budget-friendly Chromebook laptops occupy nearly 60% of all devices in the classroom, according to research firm Futuresource. An auction house in New Jersey is offering bidders the chance to blow up an Atlantic City casino and hotel once owned by President Donald Trump.Bodnar's Auction Sales says it will open auction bidding Saturday for the chance to press the button that will ignite the controlled implosion of the Trump Plaza Casino and Hotel.According to a description on the live bidding website, all proceeds from the auction will "benefit" the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City."Ever since the start of this pandemic they have seen an increase of young children and adolescents benefit from the services of The Boys & Girl Club and are in need of all the assistance they can get for the community," Bodnar's said in its item description.Bidding for the chance to implode the building is open to anyone, and Bodnar's adds that the demolition can be conducted "anywhere in the world as well as close to the Plaza as we can safely get you there."Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino opened in 1984 — Trump's first property on the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk. However, the casino closed in 2014 and has sat abandoned ever since.In June, Carl Icahn — the senior lender for the Trump Plaza's mortgage — submitted plans to Atlantic for the casino's planned demolition. The city asked that the building be demolished because it had fallen into disrepair, and debris was falling to the boardwalk below.The implosion of the casino is currently slated for early February, according to CNN. As hundreds of thousands of workers were sent home, and office buildings evacuated over coronavirus concerns, the CDC is warning about a potential secondary health concern when they come back: Legionnaires disease.The CDC should know, they are dealing with a Legionella bacteria discovery itself in some of their leased buildings in the Atlanta area. Several buildings are now closed because the bacteria was found in their water system, likely because of the prolonged shutdown."During the recent closures at our leased space in Atlanta, working through the General Services Administration (GSA), CDC directed the landlord to take protective actions," the CDC said in a statement to CNN."Despite their best efforts, CDC has been notified that Legionella, which can cause Legionnaires' Disease, is present in a cooling tower as well as in some water sources in the buildings. Out of an abundance of caution, we have closed these buildings until successful remediation is complete."The bacteria grows in warm or stagnant water, which is why there is concern as office buildings and restaurants sit abandoned during the pandemic. The bacteria is common in water, and is usually only a problem when the water becomes aerosolized and people breath it in; common sources are showers and water fountains. Legionella bacteria can cause deadly pneumonia.Last year, the CDC reports, 4,294 cases were reported. So far this year, 1,813 cases have been reported.It’s not known if the pandemic-caused shutdowns will worsen the problem or improve it; people are not gathering in hotels, offices or factory buildings as much, however thousands of miles of pipes in buildings are sitting empty and stagnating in the warm summer months."There is currently no nationwide surveillance of water systems for Legionella disease," Chris Edens, an epidemiologist on CDC's Legionella team, told CNN. He said state health departments that normally monitor and report cases of Legionella infection are tied up dealing with coronavirus.To reduce the likelihood of the bacteria growing in pipes, keep cold water cold and hot water hot; Legionella bacteria grows between 80° and 120° Fahrenheit.The CDC has recommendations on their website for building owners reopening after a prolonged shutdown. 2275
