LA JOLLA, Calif. (KGTV) - One of the most elite schools in San Diego has finished investigating accusations of decades of sexual abuse. Investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner broke the story last July when several former students at The Bishop's School came forward about former school employees. The numbers have since doubled. The current tuition at the prestigious private high school is more than ,000 per year. It's been ten months since we reported on how the school was dealing with claims of abuse that spanned three decades. In a transparent move last year, the The Bishop’s School revealed that seven members of its alumni had come forward and described fifteen separate instances of misconduct. It is now over and the numbers are up. The school report’s, “To date, 14 alumni have come forward to report incidents of sexual misconduct.” The school also reports, "Ten different perpetrators were identified as having engaged in sexual misconduct that would potentially constitute a crime at the time of occurrence." None of the accused are apparently still with the school and at least two are reportedly dead. The school reports that most of the cases were from the 1970s and 1980s. There were no reported cases within the last 20 years.The school declined an interview with 10News, but in a new letter to alumni, it reaffirms its commitment to student safety and apologies to everyone who was affected.The school has turned over ten cases to the San Diego Police Department and says it will notify the community if charges are filed against any of its former school employees. 1894

Lake Charles Police Chief Shawn Caldwell says that in five people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning while using a generator.Caldwell says that generator safety is important and asks that residents keep generators away from covered areas of homes."Don't let a generator cost you your life," Caldwell said.The generator was inside an attached garage and the door was partially open. The level of carbon monoxide caused the deaths of all five inside the home.A total six people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning since Hurricane Laura has passed.Electricity is expected to remain out for days or even weeks throughout Louisiana following the hurricane. 670

LAKELAND, Fla. — A 90-year-old man dressed in full protective gear so he could say his final goodbyes to his wife of nearly 30 years.Sam Reck had been separated from his wife, JoAnn Reck, during the pandemic after the state placed a ban on visitors at nursing homes.He was reunited with his wife at a hospital in the Tampa area shortly before she died of COVID-19."Here's this 90-year-old man, he did risk his life to go see my mom, but that was his choice, that's his freedom to do that. He knew what he was risking," said Scott Hooper.Scott Hooper also dressed in personal protective gear so he could say goodbye to his 86-year-old mother. His family recorded the moments his stepdad said goodbye to their mom."It was my wife who recorded the video and I remember everyone in the room was crying. I remember looking at my wife, she was crying so hard, she could barely hold the camera. It was a very emotional moment," said Hooper.Hooper said his mother lived in a skilled nursing area. His stepdad lived in a nearby apartment. The couple was known as "Romeo and Juliet."The two would schedule distant visits during the pandemic after the state stopped visitors from coming into nursing homes.Sam would sit outside his second-floor apartment balcony then JoAnn would talk to him from a garden below.Hooper says his mother contracted COVID-19 last week and developed a fever, cough and fatigue."COVID was hitting her so hard and so fast," he said.Hooper said doctors said they could put his mother on a ventilator, but it would be a very painful procedure and her quality of life could be worse than before.JoAnn was diagnosed with dementia about a year ago."Anyone who has dealt with it knows what I am talking about because they don't always remember you or know the situation they're in or they think something weird is happening and you try to tell them it's not," said Hooper."It was the hardest decision, we ever made. We talked about it for a long time, but we decided to go to palliative care."JoAnn raised three children, including a daughter who died before her. She leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren."She was a very giving person. The Vikings hadn't posted a winning season since 2007, when most of the current players were in preschool and kindergarten.The changed when head coach Tyler Roach took over a couple of years ago, and the Vikings are hoping to build on 6-6 and 7-5 records the past two seasons."When I took over, kind of figuring out what we wanted to be about, how we wanted to establish our culture, trying to latch on to the Viking motto, and that's where the "Sail The Ship" motto came up."Roach admits he borrowed the idea from Minnesota Golden Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck. Fleck made the phrase "Row The Boat" famous as a motto when he coached Western Michigan to a 13-1 record and a Cotton Bowl appearance in 2016."P.J. LAS VEGAS, Nevada — More changes could be coming to the "free drink" system in Las Vegas casinos.There is special technology on table-top machines, such as video poker, that monitors when you earn a comped drink. Now, gamblers may see it on slot machines, too.Ardent Progressive Systems and Games has already installed its technology on about 90 slot machines at The Riverside Resort in Laughlin.It's considered a trial run for a couple months to see how it goes."The hope now is, the trial down in Laughlin will be successful and then we've got several properties that are waiting to see the results of that and possibly implementing it in the near future up here in Las Vegas," said Albert Tabola with Ardent Progressive Systems and Games.The technology is a strip of LED lights that faces you while you play. Red means you're not ready for a drink. Green means you are ready for a drink. Yellow means you're getting close to qualifying for a drink. Orange means you're playing too slowly and falling off track."You will know as you play whether you qualify for a complimentary drink or not, as will the cocktail waitress," Tabola said.Players do not have to play max bet to qualify for a drink. They ust need to consistently play."The qualification levels on there are very, very low so this should not affect anybody that plays for the most part, at all," he said.
