TRABUCO CANYON, Calif. – A large brush fire burning in the Cleveland National Forest’s Trabuco Canyon is spreading quickly Monday afternoon. The fire, dubbed the Holy Fire, was reported around 1:30 p.m. near Holy Jim Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads, according to KABC.The Orange County Fire Authority said the blaze grew quickly from between seven and 10 acres to at least 700.The fire also destroyed at least one structure and is threatening several communication towers at the top of a nearby hill.The fire is currently burning away from Orange County and those living in the community of Holy Jim were asked to evacuate out of precaution. Cal Fire is assisting in fighting the blaze. Three motorcyclists stopped traffic at a busy Mesa, Arizona intersection Sunday afternoon to help a woman cross the street.The three riders; Eduardo Plascenia, Patrick Patterson, and Damon Pruit, were passing through 8th Avenue and Alama School Road around 1 p.m when one of the riders noticed and signaled to the others that a woman was stuck and stranded in the middle of the crosswalk. "No one seemed to care," explained Eduardo Plascencia. "No one slowed down and no one offered assistance." Video captured from Patterson's helmet shows Patterson and Plascenia turn around and head back to the intersection where Pruit had already stopped.The riders used their bikes to stop traffic and assure that the woman would be able to cross safely.The video shows the woman give a friendly wave to the riders who drive off after the woman is safely across. "She thanked us adamantly. She waved at us and thanked us. She had stopped shaking and had extended her hand to Eduardo and Damon and I behind her," said Patterson.  1060

TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) — Mexican authorities arrested three people in connection to the slayings of two teenage Honduran migrants.Police executed a search warrant in Tijuana Tuesday night after they said Esmerelda N., Carlos N., and Francisco N. kidnapped and killed the teenagers over the weekend. 10News tracked down Uriel Gonzalez, the General Coordinator of the YMCA Homes for Migrant Youth - Mexico. He said the three unaccompanied minors traveled alone from their home towns in Honduras to seek temporary refuge in Mexico. For the time they were at the shelter they were well behaved. So when they went missing on Saturday around lunch time, his staff believed they had walked off their open-door campus to visit friends at another shelter. When one came back seriously injured, he realized they were targeted.“They were kidnapping the kids that are in a very vulnerable position, who are not Mexicans. Migrants are very attractive for organized crime, because of the extortion and the money they can ask to their families,” Gonzalez said. According to Baja California prosecutors, three Honduran migrants seeking refuge at the Tijuana YMCA Youth Shelter were on their way to El Barretal, the main caravan shelter Saturday night. A witness told authorities two men and one woman robbed and kidnapped the three boys during the walk.Later that night, the bodies of two boys, 16 and 17 years old, were found in a Tijuana alleyway. They had been stabbed and strangled. Despite being seriously injured, a third teen managed to escape. According to the Youth Shelter organizer, the boys arrived in the US-Mexico border city as part of the migrant caravan about two to three weeks ago. In the time they were at the shelter, they never had any disciplinary issues.Shelter staff members have since asked the Mexican government to increase security measures in the area.Investigators said the deaths are among the many recent violent incidents happening in and around the migrant shelters in Tijuana. On Tuesday night, two people walking on the street threw a can of tear gas into El Barretal. The migrants were not injured and the facility was not damaged. THORNTON, Colorado – The three victims of Wednesday’s shooting at a Thornton Walmart were identified Thursday afternoon by the coroner’s office for Adams and Broomfield counties.They are 52-year-old Pamela Marques of Denver, 66-year-old Carlos Moreno of Thornton, and 26-year-old Victor Vasquez of Denver.Carlos Moreno was a structural trades technician at the Auraria Higher Education Center in Denver, the campus confirmed to Denver7 television station. Family members of Moreno’s also wrote on Facebook that he had been killed.“I am in shock,” wrote a niece of his. “Please keep his wife and kids in your prayers. This is such a great loss to our family.”His cousin wrote on Facebook: “Carlos was a good husband, father, grandfather, cousin, friend man. I am blessed to have had you in my life. Please pray for the family.”Victor Vasquez was a father of two young girls and had another child on the way, according to his fiancé and a GoFundMe page started by a family friend.His fiancé told Denver7 she was “completely distraught” by Vasquez’s death.Police arrested 47-year-old Scott Ostrem Thursday morning in connection to the shooting.
