(KGTV) -- Scientists in La Jolla may be close to curing baldness by finding a way to create new hair cells. Although scientists say the technology is still years away from human trials, 10News is digging into some other things you can do if you’re one of millions of men experiencing hair loss. According to WebMD, about 85 percent of men will have major hair thinning by the time they’re 50. Some men even start to lose hair before they turn 21. There are also some common myths when it comes to hair loss. Of course, there's always the option of embracing your new look and figuring out how to make it work for you. After all, it seems to be working out well for several famous movie stars. A recent study published in the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School also found that baldness can actually help your career, according to the Hair Science Center of Colorado. The university says this is all due to psychology. According to the research, men who have shaved heads were perceived as more "dominant" than men with a full head of hair or thinning hair. UC San Diego researchers and Scripps Research have made several breakthroughs in recent years. The study claims that from 1600 and 1903, the position of the North Pacific jet stream over California was linked to the amount of precipitation and the severity of the following wildfire season. After 1904, the connection between winter moisture brought by the jet stream and the severity of wildfire season weakened. Now, fuel buildup from decades of fire suppression and rising temperatures from climate change means any year could see large wildfires, the report states. "The moisture availability over California is still strongly linked to the position of the jet stream, but fire no longer is," said co-author Valerie Trouet, an associate professor of dendrochronology at the University of Arizona Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research. The added moisture that winter was followed by many large fires in 2017 including the Tubbs and Thomas fires. In 2017, 24 people died and nearly 7,000 structures were destroyed by fires. (KGTV) - The nation responded Saturday after a mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart, with people asking how to help the victims. The El Paso Police Department tweeted “blood needed urgently” hours after the shooting, due to the multiple victims at El Paso hospitals. Vitalant in El Paso, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood service providers, sent 90 units of blood to one of the two hospitals. Several other hospitals requested additional blood, the group reported.
