BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, has decided to stop admitting visitors from Jan. 25 in an effort to prevent cross-infection and curb the spreading of the novel coronavirus-related pneumonia.
During the past 24 hours, 688 new confirmed cases, 1,309 new suspected cases and 15 deaths from the disease (13 in Hubei, one in Shanghai and one in Henan) were reported, according to the National Health Commission.
The fact that China has scored great development achievements over the past 70 years demonstrates that the development path selected by the Chinese people is successful, said Xi, adding that "we will continue to follow the path unswervingly. We have full confidence in China's future."
Among the deaths, 91 were in Hubei Province, two in Anhui as well as one in Heilongjiang, Jiangxi, Hainan and Gansu respectively, according to China's National Health Commission.
