There will not be a 2020 Minor League Baseball season.After having the start of the season delayed due to the spread of COVID-19, Minor League Baseball officials announced on Tuesday a decision to cancel the season.In 2019, Minor League Baseball attracted 41.5 million fans to ballparks across North America. The teams are supplemented by professional players signed by MLB squads, and are paid a much smaller salary than their big league counterparts. While MLB has decided to push forward with a shortened season starting July 23, Minor League Baseball’s revenue model would have made it impractical for a 2020 season given most of its revenue comes from gate attendance, concessions and merchandise, compared to MLB which sees a sizable revenue stream from TV.Even though the majority of Minor League Baseball players will not play in 2020, MLB teams have formed “taxi squads” of their top minor league players. The taxi squads will provide big league rosters with players ready to be called up in case of an injury at the MLB level."These are unprecedented times for our country and our organization as this is the first time in our history that we've had a summer without Minor League Baseball played," said Minor League Baseball President & CEO Pat O'Conner. Do holiday traditions like reading a story, watching a movie or sharing Christmas morning coffee over video.“I know one caregiver who got a bunch of greeting cards and she addressed them all from different people and gave them to the facility and they're giving them to her brother who lives in a memory care facility,” said Goyer. “Every day he gets a card and that makes him feel like, oh, this is, this is the queue. This is the holiday season, and somebody cares about me.”Caregivers also need to pay attention to themselves. Well over half are already experiencing negative impacts on their mental health.“Remember to give to yourself and that that's a good thing to do. In fact, it's required. It's not optional. There's a new warning about makeup. A watchdog group says it has found asbestos in several products, sold in a store targeted to teens and young girls. What do you think of when you hear the word asbestos?“I think of like commercials like where your loved one has been exposed to asbestos and you die,” one woman says. “I'm like, 'Oh my God,' it's terrible.”Another woman said, “Like in a house that's like shut down forever” she says. “There's asbestos in a house.”You don't usually think of makeup.Danny Katz with U.S. PIRG, a consumer watchdog group said it tested more than a dozen make up products and found "high levels of asbestos" in three. They're all sold at Claire's, a store with products aimed toward girls and young women.“It's completely unacceptable to have asbestos in these products,” Katz says. “Asbestos if you inhale it or ingested it can lead to lung cancer it can lead to mesothelioma, which is cancer of the internal organs, and if you apply it over skin over time it can also increase the risk of skin cancer."Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that can be found in talc, a common product in many makeup products. But Katz says it's a company's responsibility to make sure the talc it uses hasn't been contaminated.“We need Claire's to remove these products from the shelves and we need them to figure out how asbestos got in their products to begin with,” Katz says. “We need Congress and the FDA to take action. We need to ban asbestos from beauty care products and makeup.”Right now, Katz and U.S. PIRG are urging us to avoid products with talc until federal laws change.It's not the first time Claire's has come under scrutiny for this.
