Come January 30, the mall will roll out its 'secured parking plan' aimed at keeping non-shoppers from parking on the property.Customers can park free for the first two hours and then pay per additional hour, with a daily maximum of . While the parking stations have been in place for months, some mall employees say they were blindsided to learn they too might have to pay for parking. Mall officials say employers have the option of purchasing parking passes for employees. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) in San Diego could be closing as part of an effort to integrate women into the Marines.MCRD has been in San Diego for about 100 years, but it currently does not have facilities specifically for female Marines.According to a Military.com report, Marine Corps officials are looking at other options in order to meet the integration mandate from Congress.One proposal would create a single boot camp that would include the necessary facilities, rather than the current process of dividing recruits between MCRD in San Diego and the boot camp in Parris Island, South Carolina.In response to a possible closure, the San Diego Military Advisory Council said losing the area boot camp would cost the city.SDMAC Executive Director Mark Balmert said, “So 400 recruits a week come through our location here, about 16,000-17,000 a year. Our studies have shown more than 60,000 of their family members make the trip to San Diego to be a part of their recruit graduation.”Marine officials have already told the Pentagon it cannot add women to boot camps without building new facilities. 1139

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The local protester who appeared in a controversial video getting taken away in an unmarked San Diego Police van is now speaking out, as police conduct an internal investigation.“No one should feel fear from the people that are supposed to serve and protect us,” Shayla Piccini told 10News on Monday as she shared the story of her arrest from last Thursday on Park Boulevard.The video shows a protester being taken away in an unmarked van as one officer warns her family around her not to follow them or he will shoot.“You see both of her legs kind of go up in the air because she's going [into the van] head first. That’s way too much force needed for this 20-year-old lady here,” said attorney Dante Pride.“That whole ride, I was asking several questions like, ‘Who are you? Where are you taking me?’ I was getting stares and no answers,” said Piccini.Piccini said she spent the day at a protest in Downtown San Diego. After several hours, the group was walking back to their car when she saw several police motorcycles driving past them. At that moment, she held up her cardboard sign.San Diego police say detectives witnessed her step off the sidewalk and swing the sign at a passing motorcycle officer, which she denied.In the foreground of the video, you can see men in what look to be marked police vests. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Coronado Police Department released an image Monday of a vehicle that may be related to BB gun incidents in Coronado Sunday. 10news has learned five people were struck in the downtown area. Police spent the morning scouring the ground near State Street and West Broadway. An officer told 10news four people were crossing State Street late Saturday night or early Sunday evening when three of them were hit. The extent of their injuries are unknown. At the corner of L Street and Sixth Avenue in the East Village, a woman was shot in the arm early Sunday morning, according to San Diego Police. She was walking in a small group and one of the men was an exhibitor at Comic Con, staying at the Omni Hotel, where they were headed before the shooting. The early morning shooting was not the only one that occurred overnight. In National City and Paradise Hills, at least a dozen cars were hit, and in Coronado, police said at least 23 businesses, homes an cars were struck by BBs.10news brought the image of a white sedan released by Coronado Police to Roman Beck, who has worked as an accident reconstruction expert for two decades."I believe it's a 2005 to 2010 Chrysler 300 sedan. Geofencing forces riders to slow down to 8 miles per hour in busy areas “like Balboa Park and our boardwalks,” San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer wrote on Twitter. Bird had violations in nine different San Diego locations on July 13 and 14. Lyft and Lime Bike had violations in seven areas during that time, city officials said.
