BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- China Thursday expressed the hope that the pricing difference on natural gas imported from Russia would be narrowed through joint efforts from both sides.Gu Jun, deputy director-general of the National Energy Administration's international department, made the remarks at a news briefing on Premier Wen Jiabao's upcoming visit to Russia and Tajikistan.Though companies from both sides had made many efforts in this regard, a certain difference still existed in the pricing of natural gas imported from Russia, Gu said, calling for additional sincerity to be demonstrated on the pricing talks by the two sides.Talks on this issue will be also a part of Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan's upcoming visit to Russia, she said.In 2009, Russia inked a framework agreement with China on annually supplying at most 70 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China, but they still did not reach an agreement on the supplying price.Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will pay official visits to Russia and Tajikistan from Nov. 22 to 25 at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and Tajikistan Prime Minister Akil Akilov.During the visits, Premier Wen Jiabao will attend the 15th Chinese-Russian prime ministers meeting and the ninth prime ministers meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

FUZHOU, Nov. 11 (Xinhua)-- Alibaba.com Ltd., operator of China' s largest online-commerce site for businesses, said its paying members in the third quarter exceeded 1 million for the first time, as shown in its unaudited financial figures for the quarter, released on Thursday.Alibaba boasts 56.7 million registered users, 8.2 million storefronts and over 1 million paying members, up by 25 percent, 35 percent and 30 percent respectively, year on year, according to the report."We specifically stepped up our efforts in enforcing a trusted and safe environment in our marketplace by eliminating paying members who committed fraud, as well as those who have a high probability to commit fraud. BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's health care reform funds - 850 billion yuan (126 billion U.S. dollars) over three years - were mainly used to build a basic medical insurance system for urban and rural residents, said Minister of Finance Xie Xuren Friday.Xie made the remarks at the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), a bimonthly session that began Dec. 20 and will end Dec. 25.The government in April 2009 unveiled a 850 billion yuan three-year plan for national health care reform.With the funds, the government promised universal access to basic health insurance, the introduction of an essential drugs system, improved primary health care facilities, equitable access to basic public health services and a pilot reforms for state-run hospitals.Chinese lawmakers attend a meeting of the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 24, 2010. BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) announced Monday that it will guide the nation's banks to a scientific pace of lending this year as it stressed bank loans should better serve the real economy.The CBRC said in a statement on its website that it will also expand and improve financial services in the country's rural areas and encourage banks to support borrowing activities from small-sized companies.The CBRC said it will carry out more studies in stepping up support for the country's affordable housing program, which aims to build 10 million affordable housing units for low and middle income residents this year.The commission also said it will continue to implement the differentiated home loan policy adopted last year, under which bank loans for third home purchases are suspended and down payments for all first-time home buyers are at least 30 percent of the purchase price, while second home buyers will have to pay an even higher amount of down payments, at 50 percent.Further, the CBRC said it would tighten controls over lending to local government's financing vehicles in order to ward off risks.Government data showed new yuan-denominated lending in China reached 7.95 trillion yuan (about 1.2 trillion U.S. Dollars) last year, overshooting the government's full-year target of 7.5 trillion yuan.
