SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego authorities are investigating a string of robberies involving thieves wielding hammers.San Diego police and sheriff’s department officials confirmed four incidents are being investigated, and they are trying to determine if the robberies are connected.At around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a Circle K store on Tierrasanta Boulevard due to a robbery carried out by multiple males armed with hammers. It is unknown what the thieves took in the robbery.About an hour later, a man told police that several men with hammers confronted him at a convenience store near Black Mountain Road and ransacked his car before fleeing.Several minutes later, police responded to a 911 call from a driver who reported being flagged down on Maya Linda Road by a man who said he was robbed by a group of people with hammers.A fourth robbery involving a group armed with hammers was reported at a 7-Eleven in Mira Mesa, authorities said.No injuries were reported in any of the incidents, ABC 10News learned.Authorities do not have detailed descriptions of the assailants. 1100

Elliott has heard complaints from neighbors and has filed a civil enforcement action to shut down a short-term vacation rental property in La Jolla that has been dubbed a "COVID party mansion."The complaint alleges that defendants are maintaining a public nuisance and engaging in unfair competition, including false advertising at the La Jolla Farms rental property located at 9660 Black Gold Rd. According to city officials, the rental property continues to operate in violation of state and county COVID-19 public health orders.According to a press release, Elliott is seeking civil penalties and a permanent injunction against property owners Mousa Hussain Mushkor and Zahra Ali Kasim, property manager Nital Meshkoor, and Steven S. Barbarich, who leased the property from Mushkor and subleased it as a short-term rental.City officials said the oceanfront mansion has been the subject of at least 30 calls to the San Diego Police Department. Officers have spent more than 173 hours at the property to investigate nuisance activity. Most of the incidents involved raucous parties, some of which had up to 300 attendees.Elliott said about a dozen of the party complaints came during the COVID-19 pandemic, while public health orders prohibited large gatherings.According to the press release, concerns about the property were brought to the City Attorney’s Office by San Diego police and by neighbors who reported that the situation was "becoming more pronounced as the COVID-19 pandemic progressed." “Shutting down dangerous party houses protects the public health by preventing COVID super-spreader events and other illegal behavior,” Elliott said. “It’s unfortunate that San Diego does not have short term rental regulations in place. Relief for this neighborhood would have come much sooner. Instead we must rely on time-intensive prosecutions at significant taxpayer expense.”According to the press release, gunfire was reported to police during a party in May of 2019. Officers arrived and found a large party in progress. Partygoers questioned by police admitted gunshots were fired during a fight that had occurred earlier. Police found shell casings outside the property and a neighbor found an additional casing the next day and turned it over to police. The City Attorney's Office assembled evidence from investigations by SDPD, the Code Enforcement Division of the City’s Development Services Department, the County Health & Human Services Department, and the City Fire Marshal. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego County is working to make it easier for San Diegans to get flu shots, which health officials say is especially important this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.On Thursday, local leaders kicked off efforts to promote flu vaccinations. Over the course of the next few weeks, they will be hosting pop-up clinics across the county where people can get free flu shots.The pop-up clinics are designed for those who don’t have insurance or those who can’t get the vaccine from their health care provider or pharmacy.Valentina Christiansen came to one of the clinics to get flu shots for her family. She said, “I think it’s great because I tried to go through our health plan and that’s over a month out, and we wanted to get it sooner. We heard about the opportunity and we’re excited to be able to do that.”Dr. Denise Foster, chief nursing officer for the county, said getting the flu vaccine can also help in the battle against the coronavirus. Keeping flu patients out of the hospital frees up beds and resources for those fighting COVID-19.“The flu vaccine can prevent the flu and prevent people from seeking health care services that might be needed right now connected to the pandemic,” Foster said.Foster added there are more people that have gotten the flu vaccine this year in comparison to this same time last year.
