A San Diego bail bondsman is disputing a controversial Facebook live in which the narrator says his agents were turning in a suspected undocumented immigrant.The video, shot Monday by Ryan McAdams, shows Watkins employees turning a Latino man into central jail. McAdams, wearing a Watkins hat, narrates the video, saying the man was at risk of skipping trial and costing Watkins ,000. He added commentary that drew criticism from immigration advocates. "He's in here hiding under sanctuary status right now," McAdams says in the nine-minute video. "Let ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) deal with him."Jerald Watkins, who co-owns Watkins Bail Bonds, said he watched that video in shock. He said immigration status doesn't matter. "As long as you appear at your court dates, that's all we're asking," he said. Watkins said his workers took the man in after he changed his address and phone number, plus a warning from his co-signors that he may skip trial. "The family called and said look, this guy's acting shaky, we don't want to be on the hook for ,000," he said. Watkins said McAdams isn't his employee. A Michigan hospital is facing a federal lawsuit alleging racial discrimination by a nurse who says she was told not to care for a patient because of her race.Teoka Williams works as a Registered Nurse at Beaumont Health's campus in Dearborn. Her lawsuit alleges that while working on the unit on Oct. 2, she overheard a patient say she did not want a "Black B****" taking care of her.Williams claims she told the clinical manager about the comment and that clinical manager then talked to the patient, who told her she did not want Williams to care for her.The clinical manager then allegedly told the patient that she would "move" Williams and that the patient would not have to see her anymore.The clinical manager then told Williams she was not to go into the patient's room and if either patient in the room needed care a white nurse named Olivia was required to go into the room, according to the suitThe lawsuit alleges that there were times when the patients in the room needed care and Williams was forbidden from doing so because of her race.Williams' lawsuit contends that she told Human Resources about the incident and was told that patient requests are honored all the time and that the next time it happened, she would be taken off the assignment altogether.The lawsuit contends Beaumont violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Michigan's Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. If I’m on a fixed income, how can I pay a ,000 water bill?" she said.Ford called MLGW and said she was told the massive bill was due to a water leak on her property, and that she’d need a plumber to fix it."Some pipe or something had come loose and they took care of it," she said.According to Ford's bill, her water usage during the month of December was 4,983 CCFs (centum cubic feet). A mother of a 9-month-old baby is upset after she says her daughter received a second degree burn while she was in a daycare in Detroit on Friday.Her daughter attended Lafayette Day Care Center on E. Lafayette Street in Detroit.It was a seemingly normal day for Sabrina Shellman when she picked up her kids at the center Friday afternoon. It wasn’t until she got home, she noticed a burn her daughter’s leg.The family took the baby to the doctors, filed a police report and then contacted Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit.“It’s frustrating, it’s heartbreaking, it makes me really, really angry,” Shellman said.When she picked up her kids, 9-month-old Jayla and 4-year-old Jayden, she said no one told her about the injury.It wasn’t until she changed the baby that she said she noticed something was wrong.“That’s when I noticed the burn on the back of her leg,” she said. “No one bothered to call me. No one informed me of this at all.”Sabrina rushed Jayla to the doctors, who told her it’s a second degree burn. She immediate called the daycare.Shellman said a manager said the injury did not happen at the daycare. The mother said she thinks they are trying to cover it up.“My daughter received a burn," she said. "They should be ashamed of themselves, definitely, they should be ashamed.”Sabrina asked her son if he saw what happened, he says one of the caregivers did it.“Spilled oatmeal on her leg, that’s what he told me,” she said.Now, Sabrina said baby Jayla has been traumatized.“She’s screaming, she’s yelling, she won’t stop crying.”The daycare manager didn’t want to talk on-camera, but said they don’t know how the baby got burned and claims it didn’t happen at the daycare.Sabrina says that’s a lie.“Mistakes happen but the fact that you all tried to cover it up and didn’t bother to call me that says a lot about them,” she said.The most recent report from the state shows the daycare has no violations. WXYZ has requested more information to see if there have been any violations in the past.Shellman has pulled her children from the daycare.She said she is consulting with an attorney because she said someone needs to be held accountable for her daughter’s injury. 2209
