In the process, the vehicle ran over a man sleeping on the sidewalk, killing him.Police said the vehicle continued through some bushes and into a parking lot, where it collided with a parked car. The vehicle fled the area traveling eastbound on University Ave.The vehicle was described as a silver Honda Accord. At the time, at least 11 other wildfires were burning in the region.What followed in the hours and days ahead would change San Diego County forever.The fire was reported at 5:37 p.m. on October 25, 2003. Within hours, Santa Ana winds raged from the Cuyamaca Mountains, flames hurled southwest at speeds of up to 6,000 acres an hour.Overnight, it consumed parts of northern Lakeside, killing 12 people and injuring others. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a 19-year-old was shot in Chicano Park Wednesday night. According to San Diego Police, the teen was walking with a group of men in the park just before 7 p.m. when an argument broke out and an unknown suspect pulled out a handgun. Several shots were fired at the 19-year-old, who was hit twice by the gunfire, police say. The victim ran away from the scene and was taken to the hospital by an acquaintance. He sustained non-life threatening injuries, police say. Both the victim and acquaintance were unable to provide any details about the shooting.
