SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — If you've noticed the sharp increase in gas prices around San Diego lately, chances are we're not done.The average price for a gallon of gas Saturday was .77 in San Diego, according to AAA, jumping another four cents since Friday and reaching the highest San Diego has seen in about five months.At this time last month, San Diegans were paying on average 46 cents less per gallon. A year ago, 23 cents less. "That, in addition to the increases that are already coming down the pipeline, will likely thrust San Diego to that a gallon mark. That's something we have not seen in four, call it five years."AAA says a series of refinery issues have reduced gas supplies. According to Bloomberg, Valero Energy Corp's refinery in the Bay Area, Phillips 66 refinery in Los Angeles, and Chevron Corp.'s El Segundo plants have all seen shut downs and halts in oil production this month due to various problems.Nationally, gas has been averaging .73 a gallon. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It's survival of the fittest once again for gyms and fitness centers across the county as San Diego braces for stricter pandemic-related restrictions that go into effect Saturday.One gym preparing for the big shift is major chain 24 Hour Fitness. While members can't choose from their dozens of locations to workout, seven county locations will be open and offering outdoor equipment to members."We're committed to staying outdoors, staying safe, and the well-being of our members is the priority," said 24 Hour Fitness district manager John Amato.Amato told ABC 10News that member visits will be reservation based with 90-minute windows, minimized to 57 guests at a time.While many prepared for what's to come, others like gym owner Tom Green of Green Speed Training in Eastlake did the opposite. Instead of expanding his outdoor space for members, he doubled the square footage on the inside, even though guests won't be allowed to workout indoors until the county falls in a less restrictive tier."It's certainly risky, but I've always been kind of a risk taker and I go with my gut instinct, and if I feel good about it, I go for it," Green said.Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Green said support from the Eastlake community along with members of his gym have helped keep things afloat and allowed him to upgrade indoor space."It's very supportive, and we have a lot of great clients who really support what we're doing,” said Green.Regardless, both gyms said they'll continue to be there for their clients no matter which tier San Diego slips into next."To get that one-hour workout in, and de-stress to stay healthy, that's what our goal is,” said Amato. 1691

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It's the final countdown for the San Diego Zoo's remaining panda bears.The zoo has launched a three-week farewell celebration for 27-year-old giant panda Bai Yun and her son, 6-year-old Xiao Liwu, before the two are repatriated to China this spring. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Mexican authorities are investigating a gas explosion at an apartment complex that hospitalized at least three and displaced 150 people on Christmas Day.The explosion happened around noon at the Edificio Hipódromo located at 12609 Col. Alba Roja in Tijuana, one mile south of the stadium Estadio Caliente.This station’s Mexican media partner Televisa reports that the powerful blast caused damage to nearby homes and left debris strewn in the streets on opposite sides of the building.Images from the scene show several windows and glass doors blown out, and collapsed ceilings inside some apartment units.The three victims were described as a 2-year-old child and two adult females, ages 25 and 45. All three were transported by San Diego Fire Rescue to UCSD Medical Center in the United States with second-degree burns. Their conditions are unknown at this time.No other injuries were reported at this time.The explosion prompted evacuation orders at the Edificio Hipódromo and nearby homes displacing 150 people, according to Televisa. 1066
