SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Dozens of parents chanted "Too much, too soon," and " Protect our kids, protect our kids," before the school board meeting Tuesday evening. This is the the third time in less than one year that parents have shared their concerns about the district's Sexual Health Education Program (SHEP).  The district started teaching the program last year to students in sixth, eighth and high school following the state's passage of the California Healthy Youth Act.RELATED: Parents keep kids home to protest sex-ed programAshley Bever is a substitute teacher in the district and mom of two middle school students. She kept her kids home from school Tuesday in protest of the program that she calls too graphic. "I don't think you need to give kids more explicit content in order for them to make good choices. We just want it to be age appropriate," she said. "We don't think talking about oral, anal, and vaginal sex in the sixth grade is entirely appropriate or telling middle schoolers you can use a flavored condom."Other parents told the board the material promotes sexual experimentation and doesn't do enough to promote abstinence and pregnancy prevention. 　  "It's not about sex education, it's not about biological science, it's about promulgating and pushing a world view upon them. It's about sowing the seed of idea of gender confusion, gender dysphoria is what you're trying to promote," one parent told the board. District officials say students can opt out of the program with a note from their parent. They say less than one percent did so in 2017.The board maintains the program is state mandated, but attorney Dean Broyles with the National Center for the Law and Policy said that's not true. "There are only recommended curriculum, there are no mandated curriculum under the CA Healthy Youth Act because it's too new and a framework has not even been developed yet," said Broyles. Broyles told the board parents have been waiting almost a year for the public records that show how the curriculum was adopted. He told the board if they don't get the records soon, they'll go to court to fight for them.The board did not take any action on the issue. The item was not on the agenda. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Employees at a Little Caesars franchise location in Logan Heights say their paychecks are bouncing and management is not responding to their concerns. The workers say the problems started in March, and they told 10News they've received paychecks, only to have them bounce a few days later and racking up banking fees every time. The employees 10News spoke to, from the National Avenue location, did not want to be identified. When they spoke out to supervisors, the employees claimed they were told to not to bother upper management. Other times, they said, they were left in the dark with no response. Employees identified the owner as Tony Bith, saying he owns at least a dozen Little Caesars locations throughout San Diego County. The one in Barrio Logan on Main Street is also closed; the National City Location on Plaza Boulevard is still open. 10News tried to reach Bith by phone but did not hear back as of the publication of this story. 10News also attempted to make contact with him at his home address, but could not access him because he lives in a gated community. 10News reached out to Little Caesars corporate to find out if they were aware of what was going on and they sent the following statement: 1243

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Harbor Police were searching for a vandal Monday who set off a panic at an upscale steak house along the Embarcadero.Customers took cover under tables and ran for the exits at Ruth’s Chris Steak House Sunday night when projectiles smashed through at least two of the restaurant’s bay-facing windows. Someone inside the restaurant shouted “gun,” prompting fears of an active shooter, customers told 10News.“It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever been through,” said Joey Giacalone, a long-time patron and former co-owner of the Venetian Restaurant in Point Loma. “I mean everyone is diving under tables. It was pandemonium.”Two bartenders and a manager jumped into action, Giacalone and his wife said, directing guests to take cover and then evacuate the restaurant.RELATED: Hillcrest restaurant reopens after one week after shooting“There were cooks telling us to come to the back door. They sent us through the kitchen. Because again, no one knew what information was really out there. Ricca Salazar “reacted quickly and ran out the back door with a couple other staff members,” her husband wrote on Facebook. “She fell and they helped her up,” he said. “Scary night, scary scenario.”Harbor Police determined someone had thrown rocks through the windows. Investigators believe the unidentified vandal may have been a disgruntled customer who left the restaurant without paying earlier that evening, said Lt. Victor Banuelos.Joey Giacalone said the man had been acting strangely.“One guest said he saw him going into the women’s bathroom and said, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ And then he left,” he said.The Giacalones commended staff members for going “above-and-beyond” during the incident.“Everyone is panicking and these guys are saying, ‘Forget about me.
