TIANJIN, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao went on a morale boosting tour in the northern port municipality of Tianjin, an industrial hub near Beijing, Sunday and Monday.     Wen talked with textile workers, steel makers, tire manufacturers and students during the tour to see how the city is weathering the global financial crisis. DAKAR, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao will pay a state visit to Senegal on Feb. 13-14, during which the two countries will sign new agreements on economic and technical cooperation, the Chinese ambassador in the West African country announced here on Thursday.     At the invitation of his Senegalese counterpart Abdoulaye Wade, President Hu will make the visit to further enhance the friendly ties between the two countries since diplomatic relations were resumed in October 2005, Chinese Ambassador Lu Shaye told a press conference.     The visit is part of the Chinese president's five-nation trip on Feb. 10-17, which will also take him to Saudi Arabia, Mali, Tanzania and Mauritius.     The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that Hu's visit is aimed at further consolidating China's friendship and cooperation with these countries, strengthening China's cooperation with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and promoting the implementation of the measures announced at the 2006 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) -- World media spoke highly of Premier Wen Jiabao's remarks Friday at a press conference and policies China has adopted to battle the economic crisis, saying the two just-concluded political sessions delivered "China's confidence." The two sessions are known as the Second Session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) and the Second Session of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).     The U.S. Chinese Biz News said in a commentary that China has worked out various measures to boost confidence in a number of fields, noting that the package of measures was unprecedented concerning its covered area, depth and influence. "No country in the world has the right to put pressure on the devaluation or appreciation of the Chinese currency."     Malaysia's China Press and Sin Chew Media also covered the conclusions of the two political sessions and Wen's press conference.

BEIJING, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Thursday called for innovation and more breakthroughs in key technologies in the country's machinery industry so as to make it globally competitive.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks when attending an award ceremony for role models of the machinery industry.     Jia, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged efforts to strengthen the sector's innovative capacity and to make progress in key technologies to accelerate and optimize its structural upgrading.
