SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — City Councilman Scott Sherman is throwing his hat in San Diego's race for the next mayor.Sherman (District 7) pulled candidate intention papers this week, signaling his impending run in 2020, according to documents.Sherman becomes one of the only GOP candidates in the race to replace Mayor Kevin Faulconer, who's also a Republican. That poll was also based on whether these three names were the only ones on the ballot.Candidates have until Dec. 5 to file their nomination papers with the city. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and finding a man suspected of intentionally setting a fire in San Diego’s Little Italy area.On July 18, at around 3:45 a.m., a man allegedly lit a recycling dumpster on fire that was against a wall of the Mona Lisa Italian Foods on 2061 India Street.Authorities said the fire spread to the building and a delivery van parked near the dumpster.The blaze caused ,000 in damage.The man suspected in the arson case is white or Hispanic in his mid 20s to early 30s. He appears to be balding, unshaven and has a stocky build.Authorities said the man was shirtless at the time of the incident, but he was wearing skinny jeans and dark-colored loafer-style shoes.The man also has a large vertical tattoo along the right side of his rib cage.Anyone with information on the suspected arsonist or the incident is asked to contact the Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) at 619-236-6815 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to ,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case. 1110

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Country music lovers in Mission Valley are fighting to keep InCahoots from closing at the end of the year. One woman started a petition on change.org in hopes of saving the beloved bar. Former congressional candidate Morgan Murtaugh started the petition on Sunday. She said she has been going to InCahoots for years and was devastated to find out the bar was sold. The owner tells 10News the land was sold and their lease was not extended. If not, she says she plans on fighting any future plans for the use of the building or the land.InCahoots has been in Mission Valley for 26 years. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Construction began Friday on SeaWorld's next big attraction for the park, billed as California's tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster.The first phase on the dive coaster started in conjunction with National Roller Coaster Day, as crews prepared the coaster site for the ride's foundation and utilities. The coaster will be located adjacent to the park's Journey to Atlantis attraction in the southeast corner of the park.SeaWorld previously said the ride would be called "Mako," after the endangered species of shark. At the crown of the attraction, riders will be suspended on a 45-degree angle before diving 143 feet at more than 60 miles per hour. For two minutes, riders will zip through inversions, a barrel roll and Immelmann loop, hammerhead turn, and flat spin along 2,500 feet of track. Each car will hold 18 riders in three, six-person rows.Aquatic education will play a role in the attraction as well. SeaWorld plans to partner with a conservation group to focus on the ride's conservation efforts.Switzerland-based Bolliger & Mabillard, which built SeaWorld Orlando's Kraken and Mako rides, will construction the San Diego coaster.SeaWorld plans to open the coaster to the public in 2020. 1476
