(AP) — Billionaire Elon Musk says he's almost completed a tunnel under a Los Angeles suburb to test a novel transportation system that would scoot commuters underground on electric sleds called skates.Musk tweeted Thursday that, pending regulatory approvals, free rides will be offered to the public in a few months. Georgia has re-certified the results of the presidential election in the state, hours after state Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed that a machine recount requested by the Trump campaign upheld president-elect Joe Biden's win in the state.Raffensperger also criticized those who continue to doubt the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state, saying that the push to overturn the results was "hurting the state."Georgia has counted ballots in the presidential election three times — the initial count, a full election audit and hand recount, which was done at Raffensperger's request, and a machine recount which was held a the request of the Trump campaign. All three counts have shown Biden won the state.Raffensperger says he's been personally pressured by fellow Republicans to personally intervene and overturn the results of the election. At a Saturday political rally, Trump criticized Raffensperger publicly.There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the state. Last week, Attorney General Bill Barr said the Justice Department had not yet found evidence of fraud that would change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. 1174

Heading into the pandemic, 16 million US workers were employed by the restaurant industry, making it one of the largest industries in America.With the coronavirus still spreading throughout the US, whether it’s safe to visit a restaurant remains a question on the minds of many. For many Americans, they’re not quite sold on restaurants being safe despite most restaurants taking measures to protect staff and customers.ValuePenguin, which is associated with Lending Tree, conducted a survey of 1,000 Americans. The survey found that 44% of Americans feel indoor restaurants are unsafe to visit amid a pandemic, compared to 40% who believe they are safe. Women were more likely to say indoor dining is unsafe compared to men.More consumers, however, say getting takeout and dining outdoors is safe. Nearly 67% of respondents felt it’s safe to get takeout, and 58% said eating outdoors is safe.What do experts say?Many experts have said even with the precautions restaurants are taking, there is still a sizeable risk of catching the virus while dining inside. These risks, however, are generally significantly lower for those dining outside.Last month in an interview with MSNBC, Dr. Anthony Fauci pointed toward restaurants being among riskiest places to visit amid the pandemic. Fauci added that bars and gyms also are considered risky in his view.“When you have restaurants indoors in a situation where you have a high degree of infection in the community [and] you're not wearing masks, that's a problem,” Dr. Fauci said.Fauci pointed toward a September 2020 CDC study that found those who visited restaurants in the previous two weeks were two times more likely to test positive for the coronavirus than those who said they had not been inside a restaurant.“Reports of exposures in restaurants have been linked to air circulation,” the CDC said. “Direction, ventilation, and intensity of airflow might affect virus transmission, even if social distancing measures and mask use are implemented according to current guidance. Masks cannot be effectively worn while eating and drinking, whereas shopping and numerous other indoor activities do not preclude mask use.”Economic impact to restaurantsWith many restaurants forced to close indoor operations during the spring, and scale back indoor capacity during the summer, millions were out of work. According to the National Restaurant Association, 8 million restaurant workers, representing nearly half of the industry, were without jobs during the height of the pandemic. There remained over 2 million out-of-work restaurant employees as of the start of October.As of Wednesday, 100,000 restaurants have either closed for good, or for a significant period of time. As a whole, the restaurant industry is expected to lose 0 billion by the end of 2020.In hopes of minimizing spread and regaining customer confidence, the CDC and industry leaders have implemented cleaning procedures. Lopez also said the head was decomposed and it is unknown how long the remains may have been present near the road.“We do have a wooded area on both ends so although we are in the center of the city, it occurred in a pocket where it is pretty hard to determine if anyone saw anything at all," Lopez added. But do they really look that different?It's called the Beauty in Real Life campaign. CVS says the goal of this campaign is to create a new and more realistic standard of beauty. The way you can tell if an ad is a part of the campaign is it has a CVS Beauty Mark, a white stamp watermark that reads beauty unaltered.If you see the stamp on an ad it means that the images in the ad haven't been "materially altered." That means the brand did not "digitally alter or change a person's shape, size, proportion, skin or eye color or enhance or alter lines, wrinkles or other individual characteristics."So essentially if you saw the person in the ad walking down the street, they would look like they do in the ad. That's the goal, because in general, the editing of photos in ads really has has an impact on how women and girls feel about themselves.A survey found two out of three women strongly agree that the media has set an unrealistic standard of beauty. 80% of women feel worse about themselves after seeing a beauty ad. 90% of girls ages 15 to 17 want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance.We asked a few people what they think about this new initiative."I think that's awesome," one woman said.  "I think we've been given unrealistic beauty standards for a really long time. So it's really nice to see companies putting in women who actually look like me. I don't have to have these unrealistic standards of what I should look like. I think it's a really awesome thing."Other women felt differently."Non touching is a good start," one woman said. "But if I saw that I would be like, real life? I don't know if I'd look like that in real life."Her friend agreed."When I wake up I do not look like that in real life," the woman said. "So I think like the touch up is a good start, but for that like slogan for the campaign I feel it's sending the wrong message in a way."This campaign is rolling out now digitally and the goal is for all the images in the beauty sections of CVS stores to reflect transparency by the end of 2020. 2339
