The mayor of Tijuana said on Sunday that he would not let the migrants' actions damage the city's relationship with its neighbors across the border. Residents of Tijuana work, study and visit the United States each day, and the border closures affect them, too, Juan Manuel Gastélum Buenrostro said on Twitter on Sunday. The mayor previously said he will not commit city resources to the migrants, including money or public services. He called on the Mexican government -- specifically, President Enrique Pe?a Nieto and his secretary of domestic affairs -- to provide assistance. 578

The first woman to conduct a spacewalk was Russian cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya in 1984, followed closely by NASA astronaut Kathy Sullivan. An additional 12 US women have conducted 40 spacewalks over the past 35 years. Koch and Meir will be 13th and 14th, respectively.Koch and Meir spoke about women working in human spaceflight during a recent news conference."I think it's important because of the historical nature of what we're doing and that in the past, women haven't always been at the table," Koch said. "It's wonderful to be contributing to human spaceflight at a time when all contributions are being accepted, when everyone has a role and that can lead, in turn, to increased chance for success."There are a lot of people that derive motivation from inspiring stories from people that look like them and I think it's an important aspect of the story to tell," Koch said."What we're doing now shows all the work that went in for the decades prior, all of the women that worked to get us where we are today," Meir added. "I think the nice thing for us is we don't even really think about it on a daily basis, it's just normal. We're part of the team, we're doing this work as an efficient team working together with everybody else, so it's really nice to see how far that we've come."Meir tweeted about preparing for the walk."Gearing up for Friday's spacewalk to help the ground teams repair one of the battery channels with @Astro_Christina. . . . first spacesuit selfie, check! Photos will be much more spectacular once we pass through the hatch. Be sure to watch live: https://nasa.gov/live"Koch and Meir will be replacing a faulty battery charge/discharge unit that failed to activate after a spacewalk October 11, according to the agency. Because the unit is faltering, it's keeping newly installed batteries from providing an increase in power to the station. The space station is powered by solar arrays and four sets of batteries. Luckily, the faulty unit hasn't changed anything for the astronauts or experiments on board. The unit regulates the charge in the batteries from the solar arrays as the station orbits at night around the Earth.Once the unit is replaced, postponed spacewalks to replace the batteries can be rescheduled.Although floating in space looks easy, astronauts say that spacewalks are one of the most physically challenging things they can do, according to NASA.This is the second attempt at an all-female spacewalk after the first was scrapped in March. For the intended spacewalk in March, Koch was going to be paired with astronaut Anne McClain, who has since returned to Earth. The man is currently isolated after arriving Wednesday night at Palm Beach International Airport aboard a JetBlue flight, according to the Florida Department of Health.JetBlue flight 253 landed at 8:53 p.m., but the airplane remained on the tarmac instead of proceeding to gate C12.Passengers departed the aircraft around 10:45 p.m. and given directions by Dr. Alina Alonso, the health director in Palm Beach County, to call the health department with any concerns.According to passengers on the plane, the man was wearing a mask and gloves."His wife was sitting in the same row as me and mentioned to others that he wasn't feeling well," passenger Scott Rodman said. "She said he had gotten a phone call with his test results right before we had taken off, implying that he had a positive test but not actually saying it.""An individual on this flight got a text that he tested positive for the coronavirus," Alonso told passengers at the airport. "He has not been coughing or sneezing or anything on the plane. At this point, you're free to walk around and move around because, most likely, you're not going to have anything because there was no activity. The way you get this virus is somebody has to cough or sneeze on you."The Florida Department of Health said Thursday that passengers within close contact of the man have been told to self-monitor and that they will be contacted by the Palm Beach County Health Department soon. The Palm Beach International Airport sterilized the limited-containment area where the passengers deplaned, which was a separate location from the main terminals of the airport. On Thursday morning, hazardous materials crews wearing white and yellow protective suits could be seen going on and off the aircraft carrying bags.Read JetBlue's statement in full below."The health and safety of our customers and crewmembers is our top priority. We're asking customers who do not feel well or are concerned they may have coronavirus to not fly until cleared to travel by a doctor or health professional. JetBlue is currently waiving change and cancellation fees to allow customers the opportunity to change or pause their travel plans should they need to. In last night's case, our crewmembers did an incredible job coordinating with health authorities. After health officials allowed customers to disembark, we conducted a thorough sanitizing of the aircraft according to CDC guidance. We have also sanitized common areas in both airport terminals involved. We will continue to coordinate closely with health officials and provide them any additional information required. This story was originally published by Victoria Lewis on 2658
The law was signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in response to the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in February 2018. While some Florida counties and school districts opted out, Florida isn’t the first state to implement a statewide approach to the armed teacher discussion. 284
