The iconic couch potato characters of Beavis and Butt-head are returning with new episodes, in a deal with creator Mike Judge and Comedy Central. Joining another 90s spin-off on the cable channel.Originally launched in 1993 on MTV, “Beavis and Butt-head” rose to popularity with its satire and stream-of-consciousness dialogue. The show tackled social issues at the time including teen obesity, workers’ rights and media trends.Comedy Central has ordered two seasons of the reimagined series, which will be, according to them, “relatable to both new and old fans – Gen X parents and their Gen Z kids.”“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” said Judge in a statement from Comedy Central.Judge will write, produce and provide voice over for both characters. The police officer who handcuffed and arrested a nurse for refusing to go against the hospital's policy on drawing blood said through an attorney that he would like to personally apologize for the incident, KUTV reported. Detective Jeff Payne faced criticism for the way he handled an incident in July where he requested hospital employees to draw blood from an unconscious driver who had just been in an accident without that driver's permission or a warrant. The hospital, citing legal precedent, has a policy of not drawing blood without permission or a court-ordered warrant. When nurse Alex Wubbels refused to draw blood, she was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser. "Jeff would love the chance to sit down and apologize for what happened here," attorney Greg Skordas told KUTV. "If he could do this over he would do it over differently."Payne, along with another officer, were placed on administrative leave by the Salt Lake City Police Department after video of the incident went viral. The Netflix series "13 Reasons Why" increased the suicide risk of suicidal teens treated in a psychiatric emergency department, according to a University of Michigan study.Upon release, the show received backlash for its depiction of suicide, as some critics said it glorified those who took their own lives. In addition, another study showed that the show was tied to a rise in online searches about suicide.“This show has been a real phenomenon, especially among teenagers,” Victor Hong, M.D., medical director of psychiatric emergency services at Michigan Medicine, said in a release. “Its depiction of teen suicide has raised great concern among parents, health providers and educators.” Half of the 87 youths, mostly teens ages 13 to 17, who participated in the survey between 2017 and 2018 had watched at least one episode of the show. Among the 43 who watched it, about half said it heightened their suicide risk.“Our study doesn’t confirm that the show is increasing suicide risk, but it confirms that we should definitely be concerned about its impact on impressionable and vulnerable youth,” Hong said.According to the study, very few parents of those in the sample had watched the series themselves and some were not even aware that their child had watched it. “The data from our sample of teens demonstrated that kids who were at high risk of suicide did not reach out to adults,” Hong said. “They mostly watched the show alone or talked to friends, but they weren’t talking to parents, teachers or school counselors.For more information on the study, click here. 1613

TikTok’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, has until Thursday to sell off its U.S. operations under an executive order that Trump signed in August. Trump in September gave his tentative blessing to a ByteDance proposal that would place TikTok under the oversight of American companies Oracle and Walmart.
