COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — A Maryland man is facing more than two dozen criminal charges after stealing a dump truck while drunk and on drugs, fleeing from police, and killing a man during the chase.The incident reportedly began about 2 p.m. Monday when Baltimore City Police contacted Maryland State Police about a stolen dump truck headed northbound on I-83.Troopers eventually located the truck, owned by a roofing company, unoccupied in a Walmart parking lot in Cockeysville, Maryland. Police say they set up surveillance to see who had stolen the tuck. A man, later identified as 26-year-old Zackery Haeger, was later seen getting into the truck, at which time police attempted to stop the vehicle, but he refused. Haeger then proceeded to drive towards troopers who were outside of their vehicles, causing them to have to jump out of the way. Driving erratically at a high rate of speed, he continued to flee, leading troopers on a chase that spanned from York Road through Padonia and Cranbrook Road. He was driving down the median lane on York Road when he hit another car at Padonia Road, causing disabling damage to the car. During the pursuit, the stolen Ford F550 dump truck crossed a double yellow line again and collided with another car, an oncoming Nissan at Rossbrooke Circle. Haeger then bailed out of the car and ran away, where he was captured by troopers.Officials say Haeger was taken to Sinai Hospitals for minor injuries where he gave officers a fake name, but a fingerprint check identified the man as Haeger. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- World War II veteran Tom Rice has a lot of war stories. “All that we did was new and experimental because we had experimental and brand new equipment that we weren’t supposed to tell anyone about,” said Rice.Rice grew up on Coronado. He joined the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper in 1941 after graduating high school.“I’d never been in a plane. I’d hardly ever seen any planes because I always lived right here.”After training in Georgia, Rice parachuted into Normandy on D-Day. “I’m in the door looking out straight and I could just see all the fireworks coming up. It was, it felt like a Fourth of July thing. When I stepped out, the prop blast hit me. So I’m hanging on the outside and the rest of the guys are going underneath me.”Rice landed safely even though a bullet struck his parachute. “I was black and blue for about three weeks.” He went on to win several Purple Hearts and France’s Legion of Honor.Despite being 97-years-old, Rice still parachutes out of an airplane every year on the anniversary of D-Day to pay tribute to his fellow paratroopers. “I’ll keep jumping until I’m 100.”In honor of his courage, Rice will be the Grand Marshal of Sunday’s Mother Goose Parade, the same parade he enjoyed with his children decades ago.“There’s going to be an awful lot of people there. Scripps Company, to capture an exercise of a simulated attack on Los Angeles. I do get a lump in my throat. We're here to keep America safe," said the soldier.But not everyone is convinced this system will work. Some Pentagon testing has shown failures, with only about half of the tests being successful.Yet the technology is constantly being upgraded and revised. (KGTV) -- A man was hospitalized late Monday night after police say he was stabbed while on an MTS bus.According to Coronado police, the stabbing took place along State Route 75 and Leyte Road around 11:30 p.m.Passengers on the bus say it began when two men got into an argument.Witnesses say the victim was stabbed six times.The victim was taken to UCSD Medical Center, and his current condition is unclear.Police say one person is in custody. 469

(KGTV) - A group of armed suspects robbed a Sprint store on University Avenue in City Heights Monday night.San Diego Police say three suspects entered the store around 7:45 p.m. Witnesses told investigators that they were forced to the back of the store as the suspects raided a storage area.The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of tablets, phones and cash, said police.A car matching the description of the suspect vehicle was later spotted at the Mobil gas station on Camino Del Rio North in Mission Gorge.
