The annual event, known for its color team names and characters, started locally in the 1950s and has since become a highlight of summertime in San Diego.What more can you ask for during the sweltering heat? Sunshine, brews, and a simple sport that everyone can follow. The batter's goal is to hit the ball into fair territory (over the line) without a fielder catching it. A hit includes any ball that lands in fair territory, if a fielder crosses over the line, or if a fielder drops the ball in fair or foul territory.If a batter connects with the ball but it does not cross the line, it can be saved and ruled a "no pitch" if the batter or pitcher are able to catch the ball before it hits the ground. While many runners support the decision to cancel the San Diego Half Marathon, they're upset that it doesn't appear there will be any refunds.Organizers sent 10News a statement that reads in part, "By their very nature, the cost of events like ours are front loaded and [non-recoupable], which is why we do not have a refund or deferral policy. This weekend’s 5K Leprechaun run in Pacific Beach is canceled. The upcoming Pearl Jam concert at Viejas Arena is now postponed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Longtime San Diego State football coach Rocky Long is stepping down after nine seasons.San Diego State officials announced Wednesday that Long will be replaced by Aztecs defensive line coach Brady Hoke.Hoke was SDSU's head coach in 2009 and 2010 before leaving to become head coach at Michigan.
