After nearly six months of investigations, the defense legal team released more than 1,200 graphic evidence photos from inside and outside Breonna Taylor's Louisville apartment.Taylor was shot five times March 13, 2020, while Louisville Metro Police Department officers carried out a no-knock warrant for a drug investigation. Many of the photos were too graphic to show but those released paint a picture of what happened during the raid:Nearly a dozen shell casings are seen scattered across the apartment parking lot; dozens more in the alcove in front of Taylor's apartment which is where LMPD Officer Brett Hankinson's termination letter states he fired 10 rounds through a covered patio door and window.Inside Taylor's apartment, several photos displayed her belongings pierced with bullet holes: her clock, shower, chairs, mirrors, cabinets, pots, inside drawers, shoes as well as walls and ceilings that back up to her neighbors. In Taylor's room, a photo showed a gun under her bed that was legally owned by her boyfriend Kenneth Walker who was with her that night. Walker said he fired one shot when he thought someone was breaking in.A photo of LMPD Officer Anthony James revealed he was wearing a body camera. LMPD previously said no body camera video existed as they said officers were not wearing cameras.Another photo displayed a letter to Taylor from her ex-boyfriend, Jamarcus Glover. He was the person named on the warrant that LMPD used to enter Taylor's apartment. But, he was arrested just minutes earlier during a raid at another location as part of the same drug investigation. There is no excuse not to vote. That’s the message from a 94-year-old woman who traveled more than 300 miles to cast her ballot. The Detroit woman, who has been staying with her family in a Chicago suburb, didn’t receive her absentee ballot. She then asked her son to drive her to the Motor City to vote.“Vote, but know who you are voting for and why.”That’s the message Mildred Madison has for our viewers. Mrs. Madison has never missed the chance to vote, in any election, since she was 21.She was married at the age of 22 and has four kids, but that never slowed her down.In fact, she spent her life devoted to improving the community from being a PTA volunteer at her children’s school, all the way to becoming the President of the League of Women Voters of Cleveland and Detroit. She even ran for office herself.“When I found out my councilman was not doing what he was supposed to do, I ran against him and I became a councilperson.”In 2006, she worked with Wayne County and Detroit City Clerks to help improve the absentee ballot process. She says civic engagement is a must.“Women, especially black women, were the last ones that got the power to vote.”Mrs. Madison asked her son to drive her to the Coleman Young Municipal Center in Detroit to vote Monday. They drove back to Illinois the same day.Mrs. Madison tells us she voted for Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, getting an extra push from Kamala Harris.Like the Vice Presidential candidate, Mrs. Madison went to Howard University and was in the same sorority.“It’s wonderful to see a black woman running for Vice President.”She says it’s crucial for voters to support every candidate who takes office, even if you didn’t vote for them.“Once they win support them, they can’t do everything for you but they are going to need to have your backs, just like you want them to have your back.”Mrs. Madison is working on a memoir and she wants to open the Mildred Madison Center for Civic Engagement to inspire young adults to vote. DENVER -- The community is rallying around a downtown shoeshiner whose business hasn’t been the same since the pandemic began. When the pandemic hit back in March, Downtown Denver started to look like a ghost town, but one man was still showing up for work every day."A shoeshiner is based on four categories: wisdom, knowledge, art and pride," Claude Thompson said. "I want my members to know I will always be there for them rain, snow, shine, it doesn’t matter."Thompson has been calling the 16th Street Mall his office for over two decades. Shining the shoes of tourists, locals, business people, and even mayors."If you are in the business world, your shoes and boots should represent your job; you go to work with a dirty shoe on, you are not going to close the deal," Thompson said. The fast-talking comedian is somewhat of a local celebrity in the area."I keep my shoes so waterproofed I believe they can walk on water," Thompson joked. He charges for shoes for boots and for a lifetime membership."He gives ya hell on your shoes," lifetime member Jason Kuzov said. "He’s funny and brightens up your day."Claude’s smile began to fade as people started to work from home. Some days he only gets one or two shines.REV Energy Services and several of Thompson's customers in the oil and gas industry started a GoFundMe to help."It will help Claude so he can keep paying his rent and buying food; we don’t know when the customers are going to come back for him," Kuzov said. You can help Claude by stopping by 16th and Welton for a shoeshine."I’m not in it for the money, I am in it to help save his sole," Thompson said.
