(KGTV) — The California Democratic Party headquarters was evacuated Wednesday after a suspicious package was reportedly discovered in the mail, before later being deemed safe."Earlier in the day CDP headquarters received a suspicious package in the mail, which we reported to law enforcement out of an abundance of caution," the CA Democratic Party tweeted. "We have evacuated [sic] our headquarters building as a safety [sic] precaution, and law enforcement is presently addressing the situation."According to the Sacramento Bee, a manila envelope addressed to Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez was received by the CA DNP's downtown Sacramento headquarters.The envelope was delivered around 11 a.m. with the day's mail and staff placed it outside and called police as soon as they noticed it, the Bee reported. 834

A Bay County, Mich. man was bitten by a pet cobra and given 28 vials of antivenom from Florida's Miami-Dade County.According to the Detroit Medical Center, the 26-year-old Pinconning Township man was bitten on July 14 by an Albino Monocled Cobra he was keeping as a pet.He was taken to the hospital after becoming nauseated, vomiting and drowsy. He then suffered respiratory paralysis and stopped breathing from the venom, where he was taken to the Detroit Medical Center where he was given the antivenom.Toxicology at the DMC first contacted the Toledo Zoo and eight vials of general antivenom were sent to the DMC and administered to the patient within a half hour of arrival. The antivenom covers some but not all poisonous snakes, and it had little effect on the patient as he continued to worsen.After, toxicology contacted the Miami-Dade Emergency Response Team which dispatched 20 vials of antivenom and administered to the patient.The monocled cobra is native to the Asian countries of India, China, Vietnam, and Cambodia, as well as Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Laos, Nepal, and Thailand. On Wednesday, the first rounds of larvicide will be dropped on 48 rivers, streams ponds and waterways. In previous years, crews sprayed neighborhoods by hand to fight mosquito-borne illnesses like Zika and West Nile viruses. This year, the County will use a helicopter to drop the batches or solid, granular larvicide on the waterways that cannot be treated by hand.The drops will take place about once each month of mosquito season (April to October). Mosquito larvae that ingest the larvicide will be killed, but the larvicide is not harmful to people or pets. The list of waterways equals just over 1,000 acres from Chula Vista to Fallbrook and from Oceanside to Lakeside, according to the County News Center. Protect yourself from mosquitos 864
