EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - The City of El Cajon is days away from unveiling their new million dollar animal shelter to the public and gave 10News a sneak peek on Tuesday.The new shelter is double the size of the current facility, which was built in the 1950's, and features state-of-the-art amenities.The city believes it will dramatically improve the adoption experience for East County residents."With more room comes more ability to provide the standard of care expected for these types of animals," said Dirk Epperson, Director of Public Works for the City of El Cajon.The facility has a medical center and operating room as well as a full-service grooming station.There will also be several 'get to know you rooms' where potential adopters can get one-on-one time with the animals.Epperson says efficiency is a theme in the new facility, making it easier and more environmentally-friendly for shelter employees to do their jobs. The grand opening is Saturday, June 2 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m and adoption fees will be offered for all animals.The shelters will be closed from Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1. Trump Jr. and his family traveled aboard a yacht for several days without his full detail, CNN has learned. A law enforcement source stressed the request to pull back on protection did not come from the agency.The Secret Service strongly pushed back on Trump Jr.'s request to waive protection for the Bahamas trip, according to two sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, but it was "demanded" by Trump Jr. himself. (KGTV) - A 16-year-old is battling life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in the East County.The teenager was hit by the vehicle at about 8 p.m. Monday near the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Waterloo Ave., El Cajon police said.Police arrived to find the teenager unconscious in the road and transported him to a nearby hospital. The identification of the victim is being withheld, police said.Police added that the teen was with three other male teenagers, who had been running south across East Washington Ave. outside of a crosswalk when the collision occurred. The driver of the Toyota Rav4 that struck the victim remained at the scene and has been cooperating with authorities. Police said they don't believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.Witnesses told 10News the intersection can be dangerous for pedestrians in the area. 921

But now times have changed, and so has the way they see their doctor. St. Paul's PACE in El Cajon has made a major adjustment in providing care for their elderly patients. They are now ofering what you might call a clinic on four wheels. "They used to come to the clinic for services, which some still do. But because of self isolation, and the fear of being in a crowded place, we have found a way to take care of them in a different manner," says St. Paul's PACE Medical Director Dr. Victor LeeAnd their new way of helping patients is what they are calling a roving clinic. It's basically the comforts of a doctors office, all inside a van"Our staff came up with some creative ways, and one of the ways was to create and convert a van into a clinic. So we can go to their homes to take care of them."The van is considered a safe place for patients who do not feel comfortable seeking treatment at home, or at the clinic."Doctors can examine them, and nurses can do their vital signs Whatever we can do in the clinic we try and replicate inside the van."There are currently close to 1,000 patients in the St. Paul's PACE program, many of whom Dr. Lee describes as frail with multiple medical problems.
