(CNN) -- House Republicans on Saturday submitted a list of witnesses they'd like to testify as part of the chamber's impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump and Ukraine.In a letter to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, Republicans listed the anonymous whistleblower, former Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden, former US special envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker, high-raking State Department official David Hale and Tim Morrison, the top Russia and Europe adviser on the National Security Council. Saturday marked Republicans' deadline to submit the request.The GOP also requested Nellie Ohr, a former Fusion GPS contractor, and Alexandra Chalupa, a former Democratic National Committee staffer, signaling that Republicans still want to focus on unsubstantiated claims related to the 2016 presidential campaign.Democrats must approve any requests submitted by Republicans and they are expected to reject the requests for Hunter Biden and the whistleblower to appear.CNN has reached out to attorneys for the whistleblower and Hunter Biden for comment.In the letter, California Rep. (CNN) -- The US believes late al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's son Hamza bin Laden is dead, a US official told CNN on Wednesday.The official said the US had a role in his death but did not provide details. The official added that the US government recently received evidence that it believes corroborates his death.The New York Times reported that Hamza bin Laden had been killed in an operation within the last two years.Earlier this year the US State Department called bin Laden, who is believed to be in his early 30s, an "emerging" leader in the terror group al Qaeda, offering a million-dollar reward for information leading to his capture.The New York Times, citing two US officials, said "the United States government had a role in the operation that killed the younger Mr. bin Laden, but it was not clear precisely what that role was."CNN terrorism analyst Paul Cruickshank said one thing is puzzling researchers who are closely tracking al Qaeda: "If Hamza bin Laden has indeed been dead for months, you would expect al Qaeda to have released some form of eulogy before today. (KGTV) - A group of San Diego lawmakers, water agencies and business leaders are joining forces in opposition of a possible new state tax on tap water.Under the proposed State Senate Bill 623, Californians would see an additional 95 cents per month on their water bills.SB623 is one of two articles of legislation being discussed by state lawmakers that could see residents’ water bills go up by more than per month.The goal of the tax would be to clean polluted groundwater around the state, particularly agricultural areas where water is considered undrinkable -- with arsenic, lead and nitrate levels that have been compared to Flint, Michigan’s crisis.State Sen. Bill Monning (D-Carmel), who authored the bill, said SB623 "will establish the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund to provide an ongoing source of funding to finance water improvement projects throughout California.Approximately 300 water systems in California currently have pollutant violations, such as arsenic, lead, nitrates, and uranium that have been linked to nausea and vomiting, cancer, reduced mental functioning in children, nervous system decline, miscarriages, and numerous other health issues.Support of the fund will come from a fertilizer mill fee, a fee on dairies, and a fee assessed on water bills of no more than a month per household, and is anticipated to generate 0 million a year. Low-income rate exemptions are provided for households under 200% of the federal poverty level."Numerous agricultural groups and environmental organizations have come out in support of SB623, but many, including the San Diego County Taxpayers Association and other local groups, have said the bill is “counterproductive because it will make it harder for low-income residents to afford this necessity. (KGTV) -- As evacuation orders remain in place, those on the frontlines of the Valley Fire continue to work around the clock -- either battling the fire or helping get animals to safety.The San Diego Humane Society, like fire crews, have been working since the fire erupted. Although their jobs are drastically different, they do have some of the same training.The Humane Society’s Emergency Response Team has been rescuing animals from the path of the flames. The team has helped small pets like cats and dogs, as well as larger farm animals.At one point during a rescue on Sunday, Humane Society teams were forced to turn around as the fire jumped the road in front of them.“It's still scary, you have to understand that fire behavior, you have to understand what's happening when you see it coming down and how far you need to be away from up,” said Lt.
