"President Xi's remarks are extremely pertinent and straight, and forward-looking," said B.R. Deepak, chairperson at the Center of Chinese and Southeast Asian Studies at the New Delhi-based Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Since the beginning of this year, the two countries, faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, have joined hands to fight the coronavirus and tackle challenges, which has demonstrated the profound friendship between the people of the two countries that features solidarity and mutual support, Xi said.

In the face of the severe impact on the world economy and the marked rise in instabilities and uncertainties of the international situation due to the ravaging COVID-19, Xi said all countries should enhance solidarity and cooperation and uphold multilateralism to counter challenges.
