SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for two men believed to be involved in a robbery at San Diego State University Monday night. The robbery happened at 6:42 p.m. near the intersection of Lindeo Paseo and College Avenue. At this point it is unclear if the victim was a student or a community member. The victim told police they were pushed by one of the suspects while walking on the sidewalk. Many of their top spots offer a view from up high of rolling hillsides in Ramona, wildlife in its natural habitat near Julian, and unique vegetation surrounding Pala.All one needs is their phone and a joy for the outdoors (in addition to hiking essentials).Here's where you can find park rangers' picks and why each trek is a favorite:Wilderness Gardens (14209 Hwy 76, Pala, Calif.): "Take the Upper Meadow Trail 3.2 miles to a large grassy expanse with seasonal wildflowers. Also, look for the foundation of an old grist mill on the County Historic Resource Board’s list of historic places. The foundation is about 0.8 miles into the hike."Agua Caliente (39555 Great Southern Overland Stage Route of 1849, Julian, Calif.): "Keep your eyes open for bighorn sheep as you walk along the Marsh Trail, and snap a selfie about a half a mile in at a palm grove. The trees are sure to please."El Capitan (13775 Blue Sky Ranch Road, Lakeside, Calif.): "You’ll really need to work for this photo. Take the main trail up, up, up. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego businesses are still waiting for any information on the resumption of indoor services, such as indoor dining, and the long wait has some frustrated and at a breaking point.“The first five years were hard, but I never thought it would be a pandemic that brought me to my knees,” said Yuda Phia, who has owned Time Out Sports Tavern in downtown San Diego for 10 years.Piha and wife Sarah got married days before the pandemic forced the shutdown, and the restaurant's first closure.Sarah Phia explained the extra measures they've taken to meet or exceed the guidelines laid out the first time they reopened, including Plexiglas dividers and staff retraining.Sarah, a graphic designer, made the signage throughout the establishment that enforced mask wearing and social distancing.Setting up tables on the sidewalk isn't really an option for Time Out, which is located downtown on Broadway near 7th Avenue along a busy two-way street that gets constant bus and truck traffic and has narrow room for patrons.County officials have said they expect new state-directed timelines in the coming days for reopening businesses, but Supervisor Jim Desmond said Tuesday that he doesn't know what they will be.Desmond has advocated for the safe reopening of businesses, but he said the county’s hands are tied as control lies in the governor's hands. The decision is also entirely independent from the state’s watch list, which San Diego County was removed from on Tuesday.The orders were issued concurrently, but not together, so there is no automatic trigger point when businesses would reopen.Desmond wishes the state would reauthorize local control so that the county could make some reopening decisions independently going forward. 1758

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are investigating reports of a person being shot in the Mount Hope area Friday.San Diego Police said they were investigating reports that a 27-year-old Hispanic man showed up to Scripps Mercy Hospital with gunshot wounds just before 2 p.m. The man was rushed into surgery for life-threatening injuries.Soon after, police responded to the scene of 41st and C streets to investigate the location of the reported shooting.SDPD said based on the evidence gathered, the victim was in an altercation with man when gunshots rang out. The suspect they are searching for is a Hispanic male adult, approximately 29-30 years old who fled the area in a green pickup truck. He was last seen wearing a blue and yellow hat and a green jersey.The vehicle was last seen fleeing southbound on 41st St.SDPD Gang Detectives are investigating the shooting. She works at the Knotty Barrel on Market Street, relying on tips to help make the rent. “It’s a lot slower than in the summer, when we have baseball games and conventions,” said Devine. She pays 0 to split an apartment in North Park. “I feel like I’m saving all of my money for the first and then all of my money gets swiped for rent." Devine among thousands of San Diegans competing for the region’s low supply of homes.The average rent in the county is now about ,900 a month, according to Marketpointe Realty Advisors. One of the big challenges is that people keep moving to San Diego for jobs, but there aren’t enough homes being built to accommodate them. The state reports that employers have added 26,000 payroll positions in the last year, but developers have only pulled permits for about 11,500 new housing units. “You can’t have population growth and one half of the units that are needed to house these people,” said Borre Winckel, who heads the San Diego County Building Industry Association. The BIA’s new report says San Diego County homes are nearly 60 percent more expensive than the national average. “Developers and builders can’t respond to the demand because the cost to construct the new units exceeds the pocketbook of the folks who need these houses the most,” Winckel said, adding labor costs and regulations are the two biggest challenges.Meanwhile, new laws continue to be developed - one, taking effect Jan. 1, streamlines more affordable developments near transit centers.
