SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A murder charge was filed Wednesday against a man accused of striking a man in the head with a wrench outside a 7-Eleven store in the Rolando neighborhood, resulting in his death five days later.John Cowan Patch, 26, is accused in the Nov. 5 attack on George Almestar, 30, who was found around 4:20 a.m. in the parking lot of the convenience store near the intersection of El Cajon and Rolando boulevards.Paramedics performed CPR on the victim, who was bleeding from his head, and took him to a hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, Officer Scott Lockwood said.RELATED: Suspect pleads not guilty to 7-Eleven attack that left man on life supportAlmestar died at the hospital on Nov. 10, according to a GoFundMe page created by the victim's family.A motive for the attack has not been disclosed.Patch was arrested the same day and was arraigned Nov. 8 on attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon charges. When the teen handed his money to Ramirez, who was sitting in the backseat, Benjamin sped away, she alleged.Eastman said the victim hung onto the open rear car window in an attempt to get the drugs or his money back. Ramirez was on supervised release in an assault with a deadly weapon case, in which he pleaded guilty to slicing his father with a knife and striking him several times with a baseball bat, she said, while Benjamin was awaiting sentencing on a misdemeanor domestic violence case involving his girlfriend.The defendants, who each face 25 years to life in state prison if convicted in the murder case, were taken into custody Wednesday and are both being held on million bail.Ramirez is due back in court Jan. 23 for a bail review hearing, and both defendants have a Jan. 29 status conference date. 2058

Check with other individual museums and attractions for their holiday schedules.All city reservoirs will be closed. Chollas Lake will also be closed.Parking meters, time restrictions for parking on streets and yellow zones within San Diego will not be enforced. Red, white and blue zones are still enforced every day. City recreation centers are closed due to the COVID-19 public health order.On Thursday, all North County Transit District buses and trains will operate on a Sunday service schedule. Currently, weekend Coaster service is suspended due to COVID-19 service reductions. Therefore, Coaster trains will not run on this holiday.On Friday, all NCTD buses and all trains will operate on a normal weekday service schedule.Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains will not accept Coaster fare through Monday, November 30. During this time, Coaster passengers that utilize the Rail-2-Rail program will need to have a reservation and purchase Amtrak fare for Amtrak trains.San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus and trolley services will operate primarily on a Sunday schedule on Thursday, and most service will return to a regular weekday schedule on Friday.On Thursday, no service will be provided on Rapid Express Routes 280 or 290, Rapid routes 204, 237 and Express Routes 50, 60, 110, 150 and most Express bus routes. MTS Access subscriptions are cancelled on Thanksgiving Day and Friday. Subscription passengers who still want service must call ahead of time to arrange their transportation.On Thanksgiving Day, MTS will allow a friend to ride free with a fare-paying customer on all MTS routes. On Saturday and Sunday, MTS allows up to two children -- age 12 and under -- to ride free with a fare-paying adult on all MTS routes.On Friday, all trolley lines and MTS urban and local bus routes will operate normal weekday schedules. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public today for help in identifying two thieves who robbed a 19-year-old woman at Fashion Valley mall two weeks ago.The pair, a man and woman who appeared to be in their 20s or early 30s, grabbed the victim from behind as she was walking through a parking structure at the Friars Road shopping center shortly before 2 p.m. Aug. 10, according to San Diego police.As the man pressed a sharp object -- believed to have been a knife -- to the victim's back, his cohort demanded her cellphone and other property, then tried to pull a lanyard from around her neck.The victim slapped the other woman's hand away, preventing her from stealing the strap, but the man was able to yank a pair of Apple AirPods from the victim's ears. The robbers then released the victim and walked off to the west.The victim sustained minor puncture injuries and bruising to her neck during the crime, police said.Investigators have determined that the thieves had been aboard a trolley with the victim and followed her when she got off at Fashion Valley Transit Center.Anyone who might be able to help detectives track down the perpetrators was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A train struck and killed a pedestrian in Old Town Thursday, authorities reported.The rail fatality in the 4000 block of Taylor Street occurred about 11:30 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.Details on the circumstances of the death, including the victim's age and gender, were not immediately available.Due to the fatality, Coaster passenger-train service was delayed until further notice, North County Transit District advised.
