BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Premium of China's insurance companies hit 1.02 trillion yuan (149.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months of this year, up 11.65 percent from a year earlier, according to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission Thursday.     The year would be the first year that China's insurance premiums exceeded 1 trillion yuan, data from the commission showed.     From January to November, premium of property insurance rose 22.28 percent year on year to 264.02 billion yuan, and that of life insurance was 757.66 billion yuan, an annual increase of 8.37percent.     The commission said the country's insurance firms were expected to eye combined profits at 46.09 billion yuan in the first 11 months, an increase of 57.45 billion yuan over the same period of last year.     Profits of the country's insurers nationwide was about 26.1 billion yuan in the first half, up 98 percent, the commission said in July.

BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's discipline watchdog Wednesday opened a national informant website, to deal with the public's reports on discipline violation problems of the Party organizations and its members, and to collect suggestions for the Party's anti-corruption work.     The informant website, www. 12388. gov. cn, was launched by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and the Ministry of Supervision.     Citizens in China's 31 provinces and autonomous regions can all send their complains through the website, which has 31 portals for citizens from different places sending their appeals.     Each computer is required to send three letters each day in order to prevent repeated appeals.     The discipline watchdogs are also planning to establish informant website in city and county levels, in order to build a nationwide reporting system.     Since 2005, local supervision and discipline departments began to set up informant website one after another, which had accepted a large number of public complaints, helped relevant departments uncover valuable clues and also played an important role in combating corruption.     However, these websites did not work well because of its non-standard domain name and inadequate working system.     On June 26 last year, Supervision Ministry opened an informant hotline "12388" for people to report discipline offences of civil servants and officials.

BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here Tuesday that he and U.S. President Barack Obama had agreed to improve Sino-U.S. relations and reached consensus on major international and regional issues of common concern. "Such a commitment serves the common interests of China and the United States and all other parties concerned."     Hu said China and the United States would work with other parties concerned to stick to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the six-party talks process to safeguard peace and stability of the northeast Asia.     The two presidents stressed that it was very important for the stability in the Middle East and the Gulf Region to uphold the international nuclear non-proliferation regime and properly resolve the Iran nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation, Hu said.     ONE-CHINA POLICY     Hu said the key to Sino-U.S. relationship was to mutually respect and accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns while divergences from different national conditions were normal as the two sides had different country situations.     He said that China appreciated President Obama's support for the one-China policy and the three Sino-U.S. joint communiques, and his respect for China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity on the Taiwan issue and other matters.     Hu said the two sides had reaffirmed the "cardinal principle" of "mutually respecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity" and voiced opposition to any attempt by any force to violate this principle.     "We have both agreed to conduct dialogues and exchanges on issues including human rights and religion, in the spirit of equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, so as to boost understanding, mitigate divergences and broaden consensus," Hu said.     "The Sino-U.S. relationship is very important. HOHHOT, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Police said Tuesday they had shot and killed an escaped prisoner and apprehended three others in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.     The four escaped on Saturday from the No. 2 Prison in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia, after killing a prison guard, said a spokesman from the regional public security department.     Acting on information from local residents, police surrounded the men in Helin County early Tuesday, after they had hijacked a motor tricycle and taken the woman driver hostage.     Police shot dead Gao Bo, who resisted arrest and injured a police officer with knife, said the spokesman.
