A federal judge in Texas is set to hear arguments on whether he should end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a case that could tee up a fast track for the issue to hit the Supreme Court this fall.District Judge Andrew Hanen, a George W. A man in Colorado who was sentenced to more than 300 years in prison for child sex crimes in 2015, is now walking free after his conviction was thrown out on a technicality.Michael Tracy McFadden, 46, was convicted for 19 counts of sexual offenses, including a habitual sex offender against children, according to KKCO. McFadden was released from the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility on Tuesday.In June, the Colorado Court of Appeals found that McFadden's right to a speedy trial was violated when the judge in the case granted a continuance. When the court ruled that his statutes were violated, they threw out his conviction."Frankly I'm completely appalled with the decision," District Attorney Dan Rubenstein told KREX. "I find it offensive that our justice system would allow this to happen."Rubenstein explained to KREX that speedy trials are broken down into two categories: constitutional and statual.Constitutional speedy trials have no timeframe, depending on the case. However, in Colorado, statutory speedy right trials require a time frame of six months.Rubinstein told reporters, “Because the error here was that he shouldn’t have been tried longer than six months from the last time he waived speedy trial, there was no remedy for that, and therefore there is no ability to retry him." "The justice system completely failed in this situation. A Glendale, Arizona mother has been arrested after reportedly leaving her toddler in a car for 90 minutes while she went shopping. Glendale police report that around 9 p.m. Monday, they were called to a shopping plaza at 91st and Northern avenues. Witnesses reported to police that there was a toddler in a car with no adult around. Police found the 2-year-old boy, "crying, dirty and covered in urine." The child's mother, 19-year-old Dakota Cheyanne Brown, was located in a nearby store. She allegedly told police that she was in the store for about 45 minutes and was checking on him by looking out the store window. Police say the car windows were darkly tinted and they couldn't see inside, even from a few feet away. Store employees allegedly told police that Brown was in the store for about 90 minutes. Store surveillance video reportedly shows that Brown never left the store to check on her son. Brown was arrested for endangerment and child abuse. 1011

A Flint woman was accused of placing her infant children inside a suitcase and leaving them at the curb.On Wednesday, Flint Police responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Pierson Road to assist Child Protective Services.When officers were on scene, a 26-year-old woman placed items to the curb "as if it were trash" and fled from the residence at West Pierson Road on foot, according to a release from Flint police.Police say she was detained after a brief foot chase. Officers returned to the residence and found the woman's two sons, but two children were missing. After searching the area, officers located two 11-month-old twin girls inside a suitcase at the curbside. They were transported to the hospital where they were listed in good condition.The woman remains in custody. 804
