Country singer K.T. Oslin, who hit it big with the 1987 hit “80′s Ladies” and won three Grammy awards, has died. She was 78. Oslin’s friend Robert K. Oermann says she died in suburban Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday morning. He learned of Oslin’s death from her aunt. The cause of death has not been released. Oermann says Oslin had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and lived in an assisted-living facility since 2016. He said Oslin tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Oslin became one of Nashville’s most intriguing personalities, launching a country music career in her mid-40s and writing songs from a strong woman’s perspective. 651

Colin Kaepernick's publishing company is putting out a collection of 30 essays over the next four weeks about abolition, police, and prisons. The project is titled: "Abolition For the People: The Movement For A Future Without Policing & Prisons." Kaepernick envisioned and curated this project following the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. In his introduction, Kaepernick writes that the killings of Floyd and Taylor "forced our nation to grapple" with the "devastation of police terrorism." The quarterback began to kneel during the national anthem in 2016 to protest racism and police brutality. Country singer Gretchen Wilson was arrested in Connecticut after allegedly becoming belligerent with police at a local airport. CBS affiliate WFSB reported Wednesday morning that the Connecticut State Police was called to Bradley International Airport near Hartford on Tuesday. There had apparently been a minor disturbance on an incoming flight. Authorities said Wilson became belligerent during an interview. She was arrested and charged with breach of peace.  WFSB reported that she was booked on a ,000 bond. Wilson is best known for her 2004 hit, “Redneck Woman.”   625

(KGTV) - A woman in City Heights said she discovered a power cord connected to her building’s utility box, leading into nearby Swan Canyon.After pulling it up, she said it was connected to a power strip and phone charger. She suspects it was being used by homeless people who live in the canyon.The woman did not want to be identified, saying the transients in the area have been aggressive at defending their campsites. She’s worried about the safety of her and her young children, who often like to walk on the trails.She believes the cord wasn’t there for more than a day, though she claims neighbors have also sighted people using the outlet to charge phones.She said she’s worried less about her electricity bill than the potential for the haphazard wiring to spark fires in the dry open space.Her husband, who works for the property manager, put a new lock on the utility closet though she suspects it won’t last long. It’s been ripped open before.She said they’ve reached out to SDG&E and have reported the issues to the city on the “Get it done” app.  1097

COMPTON (KGTV) - Two Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies were shot at a Compton train station late Saturday in what the department is calling an ambush-style attack.A 24-year-old male deputy and 31-year-old female deputy were shot as they sat inside their patrol vehicle at the Metro Blue Line station at Willowbrook Ave. and Oak St. just before 7 p.m., according to the department.The department said both deputies sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where they underwent surgery.
