(KGTV) — Washington state health officials say a patient has died of the novel coronavirus, the first COVID-19 related death in the United States.The victim was described as a male patient at EvergreenHealth Medical Center, who was in his 50s with underlying medical conditions.The governor of Washington state declared a state of emergency Saturday after a man's death.More than 50 people in a Kirkland, Wash., Life Care nursing facility are sick and being tested for the virus, health officials added. (KGTV) — Residents of East County's 50th Congressional District woke up to a new reality Monday: They no longer have representation in Congress. Congressman Duncan Hunter resigned after pleading guilty to a felony count of campaign fraud in December. "For two years now, we've had a member of Congress who didn't serve on any committees, and that's really where you help your district," said John Dadian, a political analyst who lives in Hunter's district. A 10News-Union-Tribune scientific poll released Monday is shedding light on who may have the best chance of taking over the seat. Three Republicans come next: Former Congressman Darrell Issa is in second at 21 percent, former City Councilman Carl DeMaio is at 20 percent, and State Sen. Brian Jones is in third with 12 percent. The margin of error for the question was 5.7 percent. (KGTV) - Ten Navy SEALS and a sailor are being discharged after testing positive for cocaine or methamphetamines, USNI News reported Friday.The sailors failed a series of drug screenings in March and April, a spokesperson said. It’s unclear if the cases were related.The troops were assigned to East Coast Naval Special Warfare Units.“We have a zero-tolerance policy for the use of illicit drugs and as such these individuals will be held accountable for their actions. We are confident in our drug testing procedures and will continue to impress on all members of the command that illicit drugs are incompatible with the SEAL ethos and Naval service,” Cmdr.
