on Monday, and confirmed by a source close to the show. Tapings of the two popular TV game shows, both produced by Sony Entertainment, will continue. The audience is being kept away out of an abundance of caution as health officials are encouraging the public to conduct social distancing amid the spread of the virus. Tapings for Jeopardy are of particular concern due to the health of Alex Trebek. Trebek, the 79-year-old host of Jeopardy, has been fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer since last year. The CDC and other health officials said that the elderly and those with weakened immune systems should avoid social contact as COVID-19 spreads throughout the United States. 679

for allegedly slamming a child to the ground during the national anthem at a county fair.Witnesses say Curt Brockway grabbed, picked up and slammed the boy on the ground at the Mineral County Fair because he did not remove his hat during the national anthem. The parents say the child was bleeding from his ear for nearly six hours after the incident. The 13-year-old boy suffered temporal skull fractures from the incident. He was flown to Spokane, Washington for medical care.“It’s just a lot of pain in my head. I don’t remember anything – the rodeo – the helicopter – nothing,” the boy said. His identity has been withheld because he is a minor. The boy has been released from the hospital and is back home where he will continue healing, according to the parents.Brockway was arrested on Saturday night and made his initial court appearance on Monday in Mineral County. The state requested a 0,000 bond for Brockway. However, the judge ruled Brockway released on his own recognizance. Brockway had not been released as of 5 p.m. local time on Monday.Brockway pleaded guilty to an assault with a weapon charge that occurred in 2011. This story was originally published by Kent Luetzen on 1198

With reported squabbling between the CDC and White House, the CDC announced late Wednesday that a no-sail order on passenger cruise ships has been extended through the month of October due to the coronavirus pandemic. The order, which will now run through Oct. 31, was set to expire tonight.According to the New York Times, the CDC had wanted to extend the order into February, but the White House blocked the move. The no-sail order, which originally began in April, prohibits cruise ships from carrying 250 passengers in waters subject to US jurisdiction. The CDC said it has identified at least 3,689 coronavirus-related illnesses, and 41 associated deaths, although the CDC cautions these figures are likely an underestimate.“On cruise ships, passengers and crew share spaces that are more crowded than most urban settings,” the CDC said. “Data show that when only essential crew are on board, ongoing spread of SARS-CoV-2 still occurs. If unrestricted cruise ship passenger operations were permitted to resume, passengers and crew on board would be at increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and those that work or travel on cruise ships would place substantial unnecessary risk on healthcare workers, port personnel and federal partners (i.e., Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Coast Guard), and the communities they return to.”While it’s possible the cruise industry can resume operations in November, it’s likely that the coronavirus will continue to have a significant effect on the industry for months to come. Carnival had already announced plans to suspended operations on several ships until the spring. 1629
